Obama refuses to endorse Kamala Harris because he doesn't believe she can beat Trump - man what is going on at the DNC

Former president Barack Obama hasn’t endorsed Kamala Harris’ presidential bid because he doesn’t think she can beat Donald Trump, according to a source close to the Biden family.


Following Joe Biden’s shock resignation from the race on Sunday, and his immediate endorsement of the vice president, most of the Democratic elite have been quick to rally behind Harris — but Obama is a notable exception.


“Obama’s very upset because he knows she can’t win,” the Biden family source told The Post.


“Obama knows she’s just incompetent — the border czar who never visited the border, saying that all migrants should have health insurance. She cannot navigate the landmines that are ahead of her.”
The turning point for Biden, 81, came after his disastrous performance against Trump in a televised debate in Atlanta last month which, The Post first revealed, was part of an “elaborate set-up” to remove him from the race.


But the source doesn’t have high hopes for a TV debate between Trump and Harris. When Biden was still in the race, a second debate was scheduled for September 10.


“Wait until the debate… She can’t debate. She’s going to put her foot in her mouth about Israel, Palestine, Ukraine. She’s going to say something really stupid,” the source said.

“Obama knew this was going to happen, Joe knew this was going to happen. Now she is going to have to answer real questions.”


The White House did not respond to The Post’s request for comment on this story.


According to the source, Obama’s hope was to get Biden out of the way and an article written by George Clooney in the New York Times asking him to step aside was a part of that plan.


However, the higher ups in the Democratic Party didn’t count on Biden endorsing Harris right away and “Obama was shocked” when Joe endorsed her, according to the insider.


After Biden’s ouster, Obama — who did not return a request for comment Wednesday — wanted Arizona Senator and former astronaut Mark Kelly “at the top of the ticket” when the Democratic National Convention is held next month, the source said.


Obama is “furious,” things haven’t gone his way, which is why he is not joining in the Democratic Party’s support of Harris,” the Biden source added.

Another well-placed Democrat source said, “Obama being surprised by a smart political decision actually makes sense when coupled with his personal inability to see politics beyond his singular, immediate interests.


“Obama always thinks he is the smartest and coolest guy in the room. He’s friends with George Clooney, after all.”


Rod Blagojevich, the disgraced former governor of Illinois who denounced Obama as a “threat to democracy” in a Wall Street Journal op-ed Tuesday, told The Post he believes “Obama was instrumental” to getting Biden out of the race.

Blagojevich, a former Democrat who is now supporting Trump, was governor of Illinois when Obama became a state senator in 2005.

“It [Biden’s departure from the race] couldn’t have happened without him [Obama],” Blagojevich told The Post.


“Without Obama, Biden is still the Democratic nominee. Obama was the conductor leading the orchestra that convinced Biden to step aside.”


Obama ended his role as Illinois senator when he was elected president in 2008, while Blagojevich was impeached in 2009 for attempting to sell Obama’s vacant senate seat, removed from office and convicted on corruption charges a year later.

“He was not encouraging,” Biden later told the New York Times, referring to the former President, who believed at the time that the former Secretary of State had a better chance of beating Trump.

“He’s running the Democratic party like a Chicago ward boss from the shadows in the back room,” Blagojevich continued. “In this case it’s a big backroom because he has a lot of big houses.

If Biden got couped and then recovered his twitter password and endorsed Harris in a fit of rage, well damn, shit, that's the first thing he's done I can respect him for.

The factors that determine 2024 have yet to happen.

Thing is though, Kamala is utterly tone-deaf, and buoyed up by an unshakeable faith in her own diversity credentials.
It's very likely she could be handed a defeat in detail on all fronts, and still come away convinced that she played a perfect game.
 
I actually like Kamala, but there's no way she'll win. If the Democrats want to win, they should find a regular white dude -- not too young, not too old -- who's just a boring, milquetoast politician focused on running the country. That's how Biden beat Trump in 2020, and that's how the Democrats can win again. In many ways it's the easiest victory ever since the Republican candidate is a convicted felon, but Democrats really want 4 more years of Trump for a guaranteed 2028 victory, don't they?

She is an absolutely terrible national candidate who makes Hillary look down to earth, but the Democrats didn't have much choice. Between campaign financing nonsense, Biden's endorsement of his VP, and identity politics, it had to be Harris. No viable Democrat governor is going to take the nomination away from a black woman, and they know their odds would be better in 2028 versus this year, anyway. Obama's lack of an endorsement is notable, but not even his pull in the Democratic Party is enough to outweigh the endorsement of every other major Democrat in the nation. There also just wasn't enough time to bring somebody in out of left field.

She is a San Francisco liberal who has absolutely zero ability to relate with or connect to the average American, her personality is shrill and fake, and her record is tied at the hip to Biden, being responsible for some of his biggest failures. Going to have to triple down on abortion, identity politics, "not being Trump", and ballot harvesting and hope for the best in swing states. This is almost like 1984, 1996 or 2008 when the outcome was a foregone conclusion, but you have to run somebody as a sacrificial lamb. Usually you put forward an elder statesman for throwaway election years, but in this case circumstances dictate it had be Kamala.

I don't know much about politics myself but it seems to me there are a hundred senators and fifty governors. If either the Democrats or the Republicans grabbed two of the more obscure ones with no baggage at random and formed a ticket they would win just based on the other side's ticket being unpopular with the majority of Americans.

If he couldn’t have a second term, I guess he decided to just throw his own party into a storm of chaos and discontent on his way out.

Quite literally she's all they can go to.

If they try and move from Kamala - they are locking themselves out of 2+ years of fundraising for a Biden/Harris ticket. It's also an express admission from the party that "We've been saying that Biden has been mentally healthy for 3 years and were lying" AND "We've been saying Kamala is a fantastic politician for years and we were lying" - the Biden fallout is bad enough. They cannot handle both sets of political fallout.

Kamala is also deeply unpopular - but there aren't many popular Democrat politicians currently. Clinton is even less well liked, Sanders quite literally sold all of his credentials in 2016, Buttgeig is comically unpopular, not many people came out "clean" from the Biden admin.

There's nowhere for them to go - they're stuck essentially. It's like in a sports game when one team has clearly won and both teams generally agree to put in their second string players instead of playing a competitive game anymore.

The rallying behind Kamala is almost 100% pure cope and trying to simply protect the money and project the image of a party that's unified. Obama is smart enough to know if wants to stay in power as Kingmaker that he can't kingmake people that aren't going to win - he'll probably spend the next 4 years grooming a successor. You'll know a choice is made when you start seeing a certain democrat gaining prominence during the next Trump administration (my bet is Newsome, but there's a few people to pick from).

Just in time for it to come back to Chicago, the Dem Convention will be just as peaceful and orderly this year as the one in '68. Love to see these scum scramble and panic.
