He did nothing to help America or it's citizens and every decision he ever made as a politician only ever benefited him and his friends. I hope every politician like him goes out the same way. Election betting odds shows a swing in favor of Dems (+9%) since Kamala was coronated. She probably helps the down-ballots more at the district level and has a much better chance than Biden of flipping the house.

If you live in a competitive, expect to see some of the largest sums of money ever spent on a congressional campaign, because Trump won't be able to do anything without the house.

Two weeks ago it wasn't even in the mainstream conversation that she'd even be on the ticket. Kamala ads and PR are getting pushed in the most manufactured way possible but even black men hate her guts when she should be sweeping the minority vote.

By all accounts Trump should win. this is not like in 2020 where Biden was clearly set and prepped to be the Democrat frontrunner well in advance of both the primaries and the election while the world was still reeling from the effects of covid (or rather, the effects of authoritarian government overreach in response to it). There was plenty of time to stage Biden as kind ol' Grandpa Joe who'll steer this ship through uncertain and tumultuous times. The primaries have already happened. Even compared to 1968, LBJ stepped down at the end of March giving the Dems 8 months to prepare for the election...and it was still a shitshow. Biden stepped down in July, giving them literally half the amount of time to prepare for the election. Not to mention the DNC is going to be held in less than a month, and her success is contingent on inheriting Joe's war chest. They're already beset by legal troubles with misappropriating campaign funds, and even though most likely nothing will come of it it's still a drain on their finances, time, and effort - all three of which are in desperately short supply. The GOP is more united than it has been since 2016 if not even more so, while the other side is in complete disarray despite what the media would have you believe.

It's important to be realistic and you can throw rainbows at me all you want, but doom and gloom isn't helping anyone besides the Democrats.

There is very few mentions of a modern Israel except in discussion of the End Times, and certainly nothing to support it. In fact God has actively said that in Jews rejecting Christ they were blinded and had to find Him once again. Which aligns with the fact that Jews and Muslims are the spirit of the Antichrist. Paul even said that not all of those who are Jewish are of Israel. And in regards to Evangelicals specifically, Martin Luther hated the Jews, as one of if not his last work before death directly advocated for the death of Jews, saying “we are at fault for not slaying them earlier”. This was after a lifetime of attempting to peacefully convert them to Christ and advocating for better conditions. If we were to support Israel in a Christian way, we would do so by shipping Bibles and peacefully mediating between them and the Palestinians. Who we would also give Bibles to. And if we were to provide financial support to any group in Israel, it would be the persecuted minority of Christian Isrealites.

The FEC Chairman's statement gives them plenty of options. They can redistribute or "reattribute" the funds to a PAC that just runs attack ads on Trump non-stop.

Because that worked so well in 2016, didn’t it? Considering they gave him over $2,000,000,000 in media coverage in the 2016 cycle alone.

I would imagine this heavily depends on *where* you live in CT. In my neighborhood there’s multiple families with “support the police/military“ signs and at least a couple Trump 2024 signs. Haven’t seen anything going the other direction.

While a small sample size, I noticed the one house in my area with a Biden/Harris flag has put it away.

The best thing one can do, especially to the younger crowd, is politely remind them and correct them that this is a federal republic, and we only use democratic processes in very specific circumstances. Also that the popular vote is retarded because the people are retarded.

You have always had a right to marry. Marriage is and has always been that social institution by which a man and a woman form a family unit, providing both parties and their children with the stability afforded thereby.

Marriage is a sacrament of the church, I think you're confusing marriage and civil unions. There is no such thing as a secular marriage, that's like saying secular communion. So in that sense, the government can allow you to enter a civil union with your car, but that doesn't make it a marriage no matter how many times they try to label and redefine it that way. Also, there is no "right" to marriage, that's ridiculous. Can it be taken away? Yeah? Then it's not a right, rather a socially agreed upon set of rules.

I just woke up so bear with me. I wonder what would happen if we made presidential terms 6 or 7 years instead of 4, and held a pre-primary type election where all eligible senators were stuck on a ballot unless they submitted a request to opt out and it had to be approved (health, family obligations, retiring soon, etc), every voter could vote for as many as they would like to continue onto the primaries, and the top 15 candidates from each party went onward to begin campaigning and debating through the primary elections so a pool of candidates was guaranteed each time. President serves the people, or should anyway. If I have to show up for jury duty I think it would be reasonable to have those qualified public servants be nominated for presidency. I am sure this would blow up somehow but my pre coffee self is curious about how to put more democracy into our elections.

The way to put more democracy in elections is for the people to get more involved.
There’s some policy changes that can help with this, like teaching civics and Econ. in school.
But the ultimate bottleneck is always going to be people actually getting involved. Going out and understanding the issues, knowing the candidates, engaging in public discourse, and holding the system accountable.
