It's been a weirdo japanese/korean idol thing for years, where thousands of these insane men will show up at a concert all thinking the same shit, and then get mad if they find out their "oshi" or whatever the fuck actually has a relationship that isn't with them. Of course this shit bled over into vtubers in the english speaking market. But the thing is, Onlyfans and plenty of other similar sites have done the same shit for ages. Hell, now you can pay an AI chat bot to pretend to be in a relationship with you, as if it isn't doing the same thing for thousands of other men.

yeah, it's mentally ill. Contrast it with the typical western celebrity shit, where people get infatuated with hollywood types and the relationships they have. That's also mentally ill behavior but it's at least slightly more reasonable? Even someone reporting on the damned weather, there was some japanese weather lady who was found out to be dating some athlete when she was spotted on vacation in europe a year or two ago, and her idiotic fanbase lost their shit and she had to apologize and got fired and... it's so damned absurd, and she was just a damned presenter for the fucking weather.

the biggest one I know was Rushia from Hololive. Honestly I might make a thread on her in the future or in some other vtuber related place. I mean it's normal for a teenager to have celebrity crushes like a 14 year old girl going to a Justin Bieber concert and thinking Justin will fall in love with her if only he notices her and then get upset when he's actually dating Selena Gomez or something, but these are grown adult men, some in their 30s and 40s doing that shit over anime characters, they all belong in an asylum.

It wasn't the boyfriend thing that killed her career. It would've blown over like it did in most "uh oh boyfriend discovered" cases, if she just shut the fuck up. She ran to Japanese Keemstar to try and do something to deflect blame, leaked info about her managers, other talents and the company to him, leading to the company taking the nuclear option and just deleting her from existence. Somewhat recently came out that she was a crazy, abusive bitch to said boyfriend/fiancee too.

Then she joined a different company, schizoed out and blamed everyone but herself for her declining fame, didn't stream, quit, joined a third company and got fired before she even streamed once for, you guessed it, being a fucking schizo.

Yeah, she ended up hiring like 5 lawyers if not more to sue people on 2chan, she lost all the cases from what I remember and all the money she saved up during her time at hololive was wasted on the lolsuits. She is doing very well right now from what I know as the people who watch her know she is single now.
