This is how women exert power in society. You’re not strong enough to exert power with physical might. if women wanted power (and women have done, don’t doubt that) you do it using males as proxies if you want to control males and society, and you do it via consensus to control females.

You're a person of considerably above average intelligence and that aside, of above average intellectual curiosity. Also of the female persuasion. Do you find it better to work in a heavily male environment than a heavily female dominated one? I've known a few women who definitely did find it easier to work amongst majority men and / or for male bosses. They articulated it along the lines of knowing where you stand / clear communication. And these women were what I might characterise as less clannish, for want of a better term.

I'm only asking to add more datapoints, don't mean to pry. You just have an obviously analytical mind that values truth and I'm exploring correlations between that and working environment preferences.

Women who are not outcasts but do not play along are met with quite astonishing amounts of vitriol.

Oh, Lord I've witnessed that from the outside! I particularly feel for the more clueless women who don't really understand why other women are catty to them. These women often fall into the the slightly autistic-intelligent quadrant and don't get what's happening because they're only saying what they know to be right and isn't that what's important? So why are they punished? As a consequence, especially when younger, they then tend to end up hanging around with the men a bit more because slightly-autistic from a woman is normal for a lot of guys and intelligent goes along with funny and good conversation. Which can lead to semi-clueless flirting which sets the matriarchy scowling even more.

It doesn't only affect women, mind. The Hegemony (got to find a word for them than is politer and less sexist than "nest of harpies") will leap in to police anything that threatens status quo including between men.

Companies can fuck up for a very long time before their failures catch up.

In calgary there was a chain of vegan/organic food stores that had horrible mismanagement, and would repeatedly order whole pallets of food that would immediately be dumped next to the dumpsters because they couldn't be sold in time and they had no room in the coolers. My roomate's family went several years dumpster diving to avoid having to buy a lot of fresh food and he still talks about the day the store dumped a whole pallet of fancy ice cream. The company eventually went under but it took a very long time.

Democrats from 2016 to 2020 were raising all kinds of hell - a full on temper tantrum for 4 years. A full on assault on the temperment of the normal person. All news media was telling you was what a nightmare the world was with Donald Trump. There were riots in the streets, Police Stations being abandoned, looting, "autonomous zones", and so on. The Democrats had many people believing that the USA was in great peril (despite DT doing a solid job) and that if we just simply got Donald Trump out - everything would be so much better.

It was - to some weak willed voters - a deal with the Devil. I'll give them what they want (my support) and they'll give me what I want (peace and prosperity). No more giving stuff up, no more riots, no more horrible political insanity - I'll give you what you want begrudgingly and be done with it. This (along with some very subtle 'help' with vote counting that surely no one noticed) let Democrats take center stage with Joe Biden - a supposedly harmless sleepy old man.

As we know now - they fucked everything up in a way that can't be ignored. There's not a single thing they can point to as a success and they have no one to blame but themselves - and the people are noticing in droves. (Some) People were willing to sacrifice Donald Trump if it meant a return to stable "business as usual" life but the Democrats have factually enriched no one. They can't ask for the same deal again - people know it's a trick and are less likely to fall for it again.

I can definitely see a change compared to say, 2008 and 2012 where everyone I interreacted with was some flavor of progressive. So there's some change.

But then I see someone within my personal group and in my age range that spouts all of the recent talking points (Kamala has charisma! Project 2025! Harris can convince independents! [These are actual quotes]) and I'm pretty sure there's still a bunch of dumb fucks around.

I would imagine that’s because government programs soften the blow enough that they can run loss generating programs and still somehow turn a profit.
Hell off the top of my head I know that tax breaks for DEI type stuff and fancy accounting could help account for that. I’d love to see a systematic review of the regulations and programs for DEI and woke shit, and see what sort of profits you could generate from the fed just for hiring one gay trans black crippled woman.

If you wanted to, and if you scraped certain thread clusters and fed them through an AI, you could probably recreate the flow charts and decision trees / conversation leading trees they have been given, there’s so much of it. They all sound the same, use the same phraseology, the same keywords and keyword linking patterns and respond to the same triggering keywords or concepts, with the same deboonking or arguments. Some are clearly bots, from the limited stimulus response and others are clearly very much human (poor sods, I wonder how long they last before going native…)

It’s not just Reddit either. There are people embedded in every reasonable sized comment section or message board. There’s your military intel types like Elgin, there’s the Uks 88th and behavioural nudge people and there’s political policy staffers and big standard journalists as well. The former take the temperature, they try to flood places (4chan has been very damaged by this.) They also start threads in very specific ways to gauge public sentiment on issues.
Ive personally been in multiple threads in bloody mums net of all places where one has popped up and you think, ‘aye aye, here’s a policy gauge thread’ and two weeks later it pops up in the media as a concept with tweaking based on ‘the blindingly obvious ’ stuff that was pointed out to them.
A huge amount of public behavioural manipulation is done like this.

This continued for about a week. Workers were coming into the Ports of LA, Tacoma, and Seattle, "working" but not actually working so as not to run afoul of any agreements.

The trade envoy from Japan became unglued because they had shit rotting in the Ports of Seattle and LA. Dockworkers in Western Canada pledged to join the strike in solidarity, and magically, their contract was renewed. It was a WILD ride.
