Earth Defense Force Series - B-Movies Never Played So Good

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
If I didn't have friends I know for a fact will play with me, I would have refunded this shit when I saw how they snuck in the Epic requirement. I'm sure they're not going to be too pleased over it either.

The yellow Jew has tricked me again. Fuck you, Sandlot. You've managed to tank sales on a game you took fucking forever to localize and spit on your already niche fanbase. I have an Epic Games account I'll have to dig up from when I was playing Dauntless, but sneaking this shit it as soon as it launched is gayer than having three dads. I just want to be able to kill digital bugs without having to deal with the real corporate ones.

I came so close to preordering. Thank you satan for staying my hand.
It's been fun to refresh and watch it go all the way to Overwhelmingly Negative though.

If you don't have any friends there's a torrent on cs.rin.ru already

I am legitimately annoyed that it's a game I've been waiting the most for two full years and they had the audacity to sneak in a spyware without prior notice (apparently they did but only in a privacy notice exclusively in Japanese). You can't uninstall the Epic client without the game no longer launching too, regardless you play solely in Singleplayer mode.

I'm past the refund period unfortunately due of wanting to enjoy the game solo at least, but I still gave a negative review.
Looks like the Japanese userbase is pissed off from the Steam reviews I've seen.

I sure do hope D3 Publisher will understand the negative pressure and remove this crap. But man, talk about a stab in the back

I literally cannot install this on my computer since before I uninstalled Epic Launcher it completely corrupted my SSD. Fucking assholes didn't warn anyone it would have Epic integration until after the game released. As much as I love EDF, no game is worth installing Epic.

Player count I saw this morning was around a low 18k, now later in afternoon it's at 9k. Considerable drop on first day.

I also don't know if they can really turn it off easily to change the system back to a proprietary one in a timely manner. People found a article from creators in April. Where they signed a contract with epic to use it for networking and multiplayer mode.

Friend of mine is a big EDF fan, I was considering getting it after he gave word on it being good or not but he refunded it the moment he saw the epic account requirement.
Same guy got a refund during the Helldivers 2 sony account shit.

EDIT: I see they're selling all the DLC separately, so you have to spend ~90 dollars for a two year late PC port that forces you to get epic's launcher.

I don't even know if this is all the DLC that's on console or if it's missing stuff.

One positive thing I can say about the game itself is that it fixed the pacing issue of EDF5, which was quite slow to open up.
By mission 8, you fought ants, red ants (and their eggs), wasps and their nests, (tired) frogs and a Mother Monster
By mission 35, you fought androids, big androids, grenadiers (kamikaze androids) and cannonballs (huge kamikaze), spiders, type 1/2/3 drones, red type 1 drones, normal colonist frogs and armored frogs (from the EDF5 DLC), tail anchors, cosmonauts, flying toads, green ants, a King and a Queen.

All the DLCs, with the exception of the mission packs, aren't worth it. It's been the case since 4.1.
They're stuff with a low pre-fixed level and quickly rendered useless after the first few missions.

First Time i Pre-order a game in nearly a decade and they fuck me like this? I am fucking mad.
It was also the first time I've pre-ordered something on PC/Steam since forever, so yeah it feels like a slap from the face especially from D3Publisher/Sandslot.

50 bucks for a game that I cannot play online + restricted on the Steam Deck because I cannot trust the EOS client in my desktop computer is pretty rough.

So, deleting reviews is one thing. Editting reply posts on reviews to remove my links is a second. What the actual fuck is going?

EDF 3.png

And the blatant bait and switch Post launch.

I'll admit, even with my no-pre order policy... this one had me very tempted. I think Steam may have to step in again.

Steam allow this shit to happen...if they gave a shit about consumers they would refund everyone who pre-ordered it, and make them rebuy it if they really wanted to play the game. Or just ban the devs from Steam. But I think Steam is just cucked...after all they are allowing a dev to force players to sign up with a competitor (linked to the CCP).

I just didn't want to play it after they pandered to faggy VTubers. I thought, "Really? You had all kinds of other things you could do for pre-orders and this is all that you came up with?"

This just reinforces that I made the right call.

EDIT: Accidently fat-fingered the post reply button.

Since the post went through anyways, was wondering if the EGS backlash was being mentioned anywhere. EDF is a bit more of a niche title, so I don't forsee anyone but the fans bringing it up. It can't be milked for views by reaction Tubers like Helldivers 2 with the PSN requirement.

I wonder how much that is the case.

Considering this happened after launch, they likely don't even know about what is happening yet, until people make a big stink like Helldivers. That one also took a bit for Steam to realize it.

And I somehow doubt they could've gotten away with it if it was there beforehand.

If it's like the previous games the DLC is shit you don't want anyway. Like the equivalent of a preorder shotgun in other games that's too powerful at the start so you leave it in your stash box and then it quickly becomes obsolete so it's just some crap you have to scroll past.

So nothing to really get mad about but it doesn't look great next to a deep orange review score.

Yeah, it's the usual stuff they do. Hardly worth mentioning.
Maybe it's handy if you're starting out and want a little boost to catch up with friends, or buy the bonus mission packs if you've really enjoyed it and just want more of the same.

Plus a lot of those items are also just joke weapons. Like the vtubers, if they're anything like the blow up balloons the previous games had in the dlc. It's some animu fanservice that literally only serves for a laugh, and a minor distraction for the enemies who'll just pop it neigh instantly later on. Same with the waifu tanks.

As with the last EDF you can just use creamapi to use all the DLC for free. The bonus mission packs aren't even active yet.

It seems like those mission packs came out in 2023 for Japan as far as I can tell, but they aren't even listed on Steam yet.
I know EDF is niche in the west, maybe they'll listen to player feedback like Helldivers sort of did. Maybe not. I do hope something good happens but player backlash has to continue and the dev has to actually care about their western audience.

My friend got his refund though, two years of him mentioning it when anything co-op is brought up and he never even installed it. Feel bad for him.
