This is how you don't play: Modding Fallout 4
Why even show that? Its stuff you do offstream so you can NOT look like an idiot on stream.
I always do it off stream and I do a test run to make sure its all running fine. Tech fiddling tends to be boring for the viewer at the best of times.
New vid on Flintlock. The shared mediocrity of this, Forspoken, Deathloop, and various other ugly over budgeted unsuccessful nigger protagonist games released within the last 5 years makes me wonder if the people who make slop like this ever actually play their own games. Maybe the 500 people recorded on steamcharts were all just devs and their family members.
This video was boring, ngl.
Before you neg rate me, allow me to explain first.
It is absolutely not Synth's fault. It is the fault of the source material. This game looks like it was made at the same DEI factory that Forspoken and many others was made. Its just another game that reminds me why I mostly play games that are old enough to drink or getting there. I wonder why he even bothered, I mean, after a certain point, there are only so many ways you can call out woke sludge before even you start getting tired of the same old same old. Flintlock offers that little to truly talk about, he cant even talk much about the setting because it is also tiresomely uninteresting.
I miss when games inspired my creative brain and motivated my dreams of creating something of my own. My PS2 games were my home away from me as I felt the good times they provided just would never end.
And you know this game's failure wont matter, for various reasons.
1- Assuming the higher ups learn something from this, it WILL be the wrong lessons. Do not underestimate their capacity to fail at basic understanding, especially if it means that they would have to share some of the blame. They will say that this is a sign that single player experiences arent worth the investment anymore and we need multiplayer always online games. The power of self delusion and confirmation bias is real, folks.
2- Synth did bring this up but Im sure its something all of us with basic pattern recognition have noticed..."Vote with your wallet" isnt working anymore, or at least not as much as it should. Now, he didnt go into certain details because he knows Youtube is always looking for an excuse to shut down his channel but we all know he was infering to ESG and DEI companies artificially keeping these companies alive so they can keep pumping this culturally damaging slop. The concept of "Zombie companies" is absolutely real and relevant as we are still living in the consequences from the hasty decisions from the 2008 economic crisis. Powerful elite players with more money and power than they deserve manipulating the market to try to reshape society into the hellscape they desire.
3- Game development just isnt what it used to be. For a hobby that appeals to so many, their creation appeals to very little people. And the few that make it into the industry only have horror stories to tell, causing any passion and love they had for the process to evaporate, only leaving a resentful and clinically depressed overworked husk while your POS DEI diversity hire barely does any work because overworking them would be one of the isms. We lost the "dude bros" attitude we had with companies like early Id.
4- This whole industry is poisoned, Im sorry but it is. Synth also brought this up but it bears repeating, do not think that indie games will save us cuz they wont, since its devs are infected with the cultural degeneracy of our times so, more often than not, their indie slop will also have the same BS you'd expect from DEI controlled triple A games. You see freaking tranny references in midevil fantasy settings, how is that even possible? In gaming these days, either you go indie and thus make your game look like the same pixel art game (or PSX clone) that appeals to a bygone era or you have massively inflated budget tech demos that show off graphics that feel utterly worthless with the sheer mediocrity that they are portraying.
There are more reasons but I settled on 4. There is no one size fits all explanation for this and many things going wrong these days.
So discussing another DEI worthless slop like this is just tiresome, especially since I never even considered buying these games or any game younger than 11 years old at most. It has that little to offer and discuss.
