Jesus Christ, Sneako argues retarded points like a retard, but Charlie is entirely incapable of forming a counterargument, and then gets on the back foot because, unfortunately, Sneako is right that Charlie's standards about sex and marriage vs transition are inconsistent and incoherent.
It's as simple as asking Sneako "how do you measure the maturity, physical and psychological? How do you ensure it is legitimate and not simply apparent or feigned?", and about the parents consenting "How do you ensure parents don't act with ulterior motives? How do you prevent marriages from devolving into transactions for familial wealth, power, and influence? How do you prevent parents from convincing unprepared children that they are in fact prepared and consenting?"
Yes, everyone develops at a different rate, and 18 is the age on which most people in our society considers the average person can be expected to be developed enough in body and mind. Will there be developed people younger than 18 and underdeveloped people older than 18? Of course, but trying to evaluate each and every person individually would be unsustainable because: 1) not everyone is equipped to evaluate others, or even themselves (nothing is more common than someone immature thinking themselves mature), and 2) subjecting everyone to standardized physical and psychological evaluations by qualified people, without even considering the ethics, would be
materially impossible. So we draw the line at 18. Earlier than that and you potentially expose too many underdeveloped people to harm and abuse; later than that and you encroach on the rights of too many developed people.
If studies can prove that the line is more accurately drawn at 16 or 20, well, they'll have to convince me with evidence, but then and only then I'll accept it.
If somewhere else the age of consent or marriage is at 16 or 14 or 12, well, I think they're fucking wrong.
FUCK, listening to this shit is frustrating.
