Sperg about comic books here

It's almost like the industry is dying due to their own bullshit
I was too lazy to make everyone else at the table a DEI hire, but still:

I started the Energon Universe and I'm enjoying it so far. it's heavyhanded in parts, but the art is decent across the books.

Has anyone read Trencher? The art kinda gives me a headache but i still kinda like it etc.

And he's so bitter about the watchmen film. Wouldn't you be excited by it? Not just the fact that a group of oh 1,000 or however many worked on it would be appreciative and recognized enough property to even make a big budget film, but in that it would get more people to check out the original source material.

Either he didn't get enough hugs as a kid or he's related to Thatcher.
Its kind of funny actually. I don't know about the movie but Gibbons helped with the show and Moore probably could've as well but instead he did the childish thing and screamed about it on the internet instead. Moore could've made the show closer to his vision but chose not to. He has no one to blame but himself.

The irony that Jean Smart and Tim Blake Nelson were the best things about that show. Maybe Jeremy and Regina too minus the race shit.

"the new movie's coming out what should we do to get people reading more deadpool adventures?"
"i know kill off the mian character people want to read"
well after making Deadpool into an official Avenger and then having him fall from grace because he blindly follows evil hydra steve rogers was a hard act to follow.

honestly, in the hands of a top tier good writer, the pathos would have been amazing.

But now? Not sure what they can do with him these days. We saw the culmination of the long running "Deadpool can be redeemed, right?" arc a while back and it's just hard to top that.

Honestly the Logan-clan and the House of Banner are just in a Al Pacino/Robert De Niro race to have as many kids as possible and that’s my headcanon.

I hate Garth Ennis' body of work so fucking much.

A decade plus ago people thought Crossed would be up my alley with its gory horror violence or something but it was just some tasteless excuse for mean spirited edgy shit that thinks its got something to say when it doesn't. I didn't find it "the most disturbing evar" as it was hyped up to me but more annoying than anything. I don't think my eyes had rolled any harder with dolphin blow-hole fucking.

At least until I read The Boys this week.

I wound up (hate) reading the entirety of The Boys on some website since what little of the show I've seen was pretty okay and holy shit the cringe I felt reading it. You'd think it was written by a incel school shooter with anger issues. Still trying to process just how much I did not enjoy the comics other than it embodies all these tropes I hate from American comics.

Ennis has all the maturity of a 13 year old (if that). The only work of his that I like is Caliban, because he doesn't go full edgelord like he usually does. I wanted to like Rover Red Charlie, the story about three dogs looking for human survivors after this virus makes everyone suicidal. I was enjoying it too...right up until he went full Ennis and had a retarded kid eat the shit from a dog's asshole, because he can't fucking help himself.

It's fascinating how night and day different Ennis is with a firm-handed editor to tard-wrangle him as opposed to without one.

Tard-wrangled Ennis gives us stuff like Punisher MAX, Red Team, Just A Pilgrim, and Fury MAX.
UN-Wrangled Ennis gives us utter shit like Crossed, Stitched, .303, and The Boys.

Preacher is borderline, but still plenty entertaining.

I imagine growing up during the Troubles would make a man a bit hard and cynical but glancing at bit at Rover Red Charlie (which just seemed like more Crossed but now with dogs as protagonist) really gave me the impression he takes delight in awful stuff while trying to mask it as art. If there's supposed to be some big thunk provoking statement he's trying to make in his work it's lost on me.

For instance, I get finding super heroes dumb but the extremes he went to to prove his point with the Boys was all sound and fury signifying nothing. Maybe that was the point?

Do want to retract a bit and say I did enjoy his Punisher MAX stuff but yeah that's a tard-wrangled Ennis.
