1911's are gay but a 6" long-slide 2011 double stack in 10MM, with a match grade hand fitted .40 barrel/spring swap set....?

I try to keep politics out of this thread but the idea a German manufacturing company made something named the "Master Race" makes me laugh.

The 1911 is obsolescent.
It's still capable and you can use it but much better options are available.

The 1911 proved itself capable in the the middle of GWOT. With modern 8+1 or 10+1 magazines it’s competitive with most .45’s on the market.

I’ll die on my hill that so long as .45 is relevant the 1911 will reign supreme in the market.

You can get brand new 1911s for almost half the price of a new glock gramps. The 1911 is a collector's piece at this point.

It might eventually be nice to have a 1911 but I'm just too spoiled by wonder nines to consider it more than an occasional shooter. Not worth concealing. History, though? Design? Reliability? There is no denying the 1911 earned its name in all of these, but it is a relic of its time and handguns have come a long way since.

People don't really carry derringers anymore for similar reasons - there are just better options now.

Last time I checked the LOWEST of 1911's was the rock island/armscor and it's almost exactly the same MSRP as a Glock. The Glock has the soul and style of a 2005 Toyota Camry, it's boring as shit to look at, boring to drive, and you hate it so much you almost wish it would break so you could justify buying yourself that fancy new Camaro/Mustang/Supra or whatever but, the fucking ugly things runs for 350,000 miles almost daring you to try and break it. That's how I feel about Glocks. I recall so many many years ago, I looked a polymer pistol under the glass display case and asked my father "Dad, who the fuck would buy a gun made of plastic"? He actually gave me the infamous "Glock 7 answer"

Tisas quit using MIM parts years ago. Their 1911s and 2011s are pretty well reviewed, as far as I'm aware. They also have a brand rep on 1911forum.com, who's pretty active, getting feedback and answering questions. They are still assembled by illiterate Turks, but I'll give them credit for going out of their way to interact with customers outside of just posting announcements on major social media platforms.

It’s better than micro carry guns too because at least it’s a full size gun.

my compact "urban" rifle is a Steyr AUG A3.

Get the A3 M2 (shrouded barrel) if you can so you don't burn your hand off C-clamping it.
If you catch a 16" 1 in 7 barrel (< 500 stateside) that's the holy grail aside from the 24" SAW version. The 1 in 9 twist works fine unless you mix a mag of 40g with 80+grain ammo. TBH you might as well grab a a 14" barrel for the AUG (since it's your urban firearm) and a 300 blackout AR while your at it. No risk of mixing the two calibers if you put them in the right mags since the waffle mags don't mix with an AR (You did buy a waffle patern AUG right?).

The one drawback of the AUG is the charging handle not being ambi or switchable to the right and the predispoition to get fucking crud inside the movement of the charging handle. That's a bitch to unjam if it gets stuck. Also FTF on some mag batches (test your mags folks!!!) or if you push in a new mag an off angle ("skill issue"). NATO mag spec Augs also suck. 300 blackout AUG is cool but still has cycle and supressor issues.

That and whatever inbred retard that designed the ambomination that was the A3 addon scope with pic rails everywhere.

Was he issued an M16? If so, what did he have to say about the reliability? I only knew one guy who seemed like he actually was in the shit, made Lieutenant. He was a friend of my fathers nicest guy in the world, when he drank he would talk about his time in Vietnam how much he hated the M16. He stole the first VC issue AK off the first dead VC he came across.

I knew a feller who was in the airfoce (SF or a glow I think) in Vietnam and got one of the first issue airforce M16s which he traded for an army version with the "anti-jam mechanism" (Forward assist/"manual bolt closure"), said both were a piece of shit if not maintainted constantly with FTF and FTE issues being worse on the air force model. He looted an AK and said that there was a FTE in a fireonce he cleared by slamming the charging handle against a tree/rock repeatedly that would've gotten him killed with the M16. Also said poor knowlege/maintaince became fuddlore with the introduction of the forward assist so conscript Johnny didn't want a gun with a "anti-jam mechanism" and thought that the Forward Assist was designed to clear any "jam" instead of FTF as intended. But also said conscripts didn't want to bother with maintaince most of the time.
He was then issued GAU-5/A and traded the AK for "Colt commando parts (reciever?) and some smokes with a foward assist and a four position selector" (I have no idea what he means by this).
Don't know how true any of that is. I know the airforce models didn't have foward assist until the very end.

I have purchased one police trade in and was incredibly happy with my purchase but YMMV. Given a choice between either of those pistols for home defense or duty carry I'm spending the extra $75 on the thing made in Smyrna Georgia, USA.

Depends. Easier to shoot but way harder to carry. I'd rather carry my LCP max over a 1911.

I've carried a Govt frame 1911 and a CZ75 BD in the past. With a proper holster and belt combination (I'm a fan of these) it's really not that big of a deal.

However, when I'm feeling lazy or clothing doesn't permit large frames I'm perfectly happy with my P365.

You can "conceal" a full frame handgun by standing like a robot and not moving at all, but I've found often that all falls apart when you start moving at all. In winter you might get away with it with how thick all the clothing is, but every other season is no go.

A Shield is the absolute largest I would use for carrying, and the LCP is probably the smallest I feel comfortable shooting.

The Suited Shootist on YouTube is a small channel but I find he has good advice for people that want to conceal their firearms, not "conceal" them.

Just to clarify, my definition of concealement is being able to do daily activities in different positions without giving yourself away to someone observing you.

I don't feel the need to carry a full-size because any situation where I'd need the extra accuracy is one I can likely run away from. Not looking to get raped by the court system and the inevitable civil lawsuit.

I work a very physical job in and outdoors and around customers.

I carry a full size because I shoot it the best and may not have the option to just leave a situation, especially if I’m with my family.
