UK 'Major incident' after reports of stabbing and 'number of casualties' in Southport

Police have declared a "major incident" in Southport after reports of a stabbing and a "number of reported casualties".

Police said a knife had been seized and that a man had been detained but urged the public to avoid the area near Hart Street.

In a statement, Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm that emergency services are in Southport following a major incident this morning, Monday 29 July.

"At around 11.50am, we were called to a property on Hart Street to reports of a stabbing.

"There are a number of reported casualties and more details will be confirmed when possible.

"Armed police have detained a male and seized a knife. He has been taken to a police station.

"Please avoid the area while we deal with this incident. There is no wider threat to the public."

This breaking news story is being updated and more details will be published shortly.

Unless a judge says otherwise we'll learn very little about them if they are under 18.

Interesting that he's from Banks. Population just over 4000, non-White population of 60. Also a fairly affluent area.

It's a Lancashire police area while the crime was in a Merseyside police area so wonder if there's a failure of passing on intel between forces.

Odds of a white incel or r/childfree user are increasing here. Calculated atack on kids, at something related to Taylor Swift, by a late teen who probably has comfortably middle class parents.

In England and Wales, the courts have to make a decision whether or not an under-18 accused individual can be named. Can see the CPS deciding not to name the attacker, as they usually do this regardless of the crime.

Edit: I wouldn't be shocked if he ends up getting outed on social media, though, given the nature of the crime.
Edit 2: I'll say this much, though... It'll be held in Manchester Crown Courts, as high-profile cases from Merseyside are heard in Machester, and vice versa.

Could be a mentally ill tranny that just put on a hoodie.
There was a stabbing or attempted stabbing over the weekend (white man stabs tranny) in Southport so this might have been retaliation. It's possible but, well, we'll find out soon.

I doubt there are any black people in Banks. The X2 bus runs through there, though, on its way between Preston and Liverpool (as well as other buses). He may have gotten the bus from elsewhere to Banks then got a taxi in thinking he was being inconspicuous. If it is a black person who lives in Banks, expect them to be named by a member of the public very soon, as it's a small place.
