Declining birth rates in Japan are largely the result of a completely fucked work culture that basically turns 80% of its men and a not insignificant number of its women into little more than corporate drones who sit in a cubicle from sun-up to sun down, then you're expected to go out with your boss for drinks every weekend and declining to do so is a huge black stain on you as a person.

When your men are exhausted, even disregarding other economic factors, you can't be surprised when they fail to find families or have children.

If Japan wanted to increase birth rates they would have to radically change a lot.

This is also somewhat applicable to the West though not as severe. The locals are completely fucked by rising costs and cannot afford families. The answer has become, rather than fix this issue so the working class can breed and be happy, we will just import trillions of browns.

I have a friend who did an internship in Japan. Not only are work days soul crushing 10-12 hour affairs but it's a really big thing in Japanese corporate culture to go out after work to a bar for binge drinking and karaoke.

It's seen as a terrible insult to refuse such offers and if you decline to go there is a very real possibility you'll be demoted or punished at work for it.

Some people have theorized that the reason high school life is idealized so much in anime and manga is that for many Japanese people high school is the last time in your life that your entire existence doesn't revolve around 12 hour workdays and hangovers.

Even at highschool they've got six day weeks and apparently it's mandatory to join a club. Like, fucking niggers, let people just chill out some time. They took 1950s American culture and pushed it to it's greatest most retarded extent

Can confirm. If you miss these too much, you can get transferred/fired. Getting fired in Japan is not like getting fired over in the US either. They're a very reputational country and a job is viewed as a long term endeavor. Seniority is very important and you have to really fuck up to get fired. A job is supposed to be like a long term girlfriend. When you're in a company, you're expected to be there for several years. There's no job to job hopping like in the US. Getting transferred is their equivalent to firing you.
