No, this is incorrect. The idea that rapists as well, rape because they can't get sex is inaccurate. The main thing is to look for red flag behaviors. Porn addiction, discussing inappropriate topics with minors, having private spaces where minors also go (discord), blatantly ignoring or downplaying safeguards for children in these environments (making the nsfw channel accessable by children....), grooming behaviors like exposing them to pornography, trying to kindle relationships with children they have no business being around, paying a lot of attention to children or one child in particular, etc. I'd add trooning out to this list too, but that's just me.

Edit: This might be what you meant by not depraved but my emphasis is that not all depraved individuals seem depraved at first glance and there are plenty of fucked up people who seemed "normal" at first glance until you paid attention to what they were doing.

For the sake of whoever is "leaking" it one should think the content isn't so legally questionable, but if it is, releasing it to the public en-masse is undoubtably a terrible option. If the CP was deleted by admins it wouldn't be in the channel when it was archived in the first place. Also, if you actually downloaded the previous leaks you'll realise there is hardly any images stored. Discord scrubs old images, and the archive only downloaded text and hotlinks in the Discord images, so nearly all of them are missing. The only files in the archives are HTML files, no images at all. If there is child pornography being hosted, it is being hosted by Discord, and will not be included in the files.
