When you're someone like Destiny, you use those skills to make women feel seen and cared for even though you would sell them down the river to benefit yourself later. Women shouldn't fall for it because when he discards those women, freezes them out, or gives them the silent treatment, he doesn't give a fuck that they spiral. Well, the thing is, it can actually work on anyone given enough skill and the right set of circumstances. Just think about how police interrogations will employ the "good cop, bad cop" tactic. This is very similar to Destiny alternating between being nice and "negging" people. You see him do it all the time, and it's genuinely cult leader behavior. But it uses the same emotional/psychological mechanisms that get people to do what you want as the good cop, bad cop tactic that works on a lot of people.

Go look into who joins cults. It's doctors, it's lawyers, it's normal people. It's not all weird hippie girls whose parents hate them.

I used to think he didn't know he was doing it and it was just part of his personality, but he's made enough comments over the years that I do actually think he knows what he's doing. I've known people like Destiny, he isn't as unique as he would like people to believe, he's just really good at it and has a large pool of people to be abusive to because they go looking for it.
