I really want it to be cluelessness, we've had too many hidden Youtuber lolicons recently. But I mean, you're a grown ass man Asmongold. Use some intuition, some instinct on this shit. A lot of these channels like Rev, Mr. Obvious and Hero Hei always pander to the gamergate crowd. My theory on this is they’re trying to posit themselves as “free speech absolutists” and they’re essentially saying that being against censorship in video games is the same thing as being completely in favor of loli. It’s the same reason why the “libertarians are closet pedophiles” stereotype exists. Yeah you’re advocating for the repeal of silly laws, but you’re also lumping in the age of consent with arbitrary NFA regulations. Those two things are entirely different no matter how much you try to lump them together.
It’s less than Hasan is getting a W it’s more that he’s pointing out very obvious things that Asmongold is too stupid to realize (or, more likely, he’s just gaslight himself into thinking this is ok). Even at a passing glance it’s very clear that Rev is into loli and is using his YouTube channel as a way to try to justify his fetish.
They don't want to admit their views are libertine, not libertarian, which is a big difference. They want to hide this and grift off the disenfranchised who actually DO care about free speech and those things. All they have to do is hide their true views behind pretty soft words and they can effectively indoctrinate their audience.
I think gaslighting himself would probably be the most likely option. And a bit of sunk cost fallacy. He has watched a bunch of Rev on stream. How do you then go "whoops, guess I've been showing my audience a pedophile, sorry!". It's inherently a defensive position that forces you to double down unless you have a titanium spine, which is rare to begin with.
