Sony hate thread

When the jailbreak firmware catches up, picking up a PS4Pro and hacking it to play the back catalogue for free seems like a no brainer?

Man looking at the shit they pump out now it's hard to believe that back in the PS2 era they were a JRPG powerhouse.

There's probably more JRPGs on PC these days and PC gaming isn't even popular in Japan.

Ah, but those kinds of people post on social media, which is apparently a far better indicator of engagement.
Sony USA is going to crash the whole company, isn't it?

From what i read, Steam/PC gaming has gained some major traction over there in the past years. Most likely Sony's whole shit show is playing a big part in that.

Yeah, I'll finally be able to play Bloodborne and, uh... that one, uh... no, that's on PC... you know, the... Bloodborne!
I'm sure, somewhere in the 1000+ games that there will be some hidden gems from that gen. I'll use an xbox controller to play though because fuck symmetrical sticks

I always love hearing how things were in other peoples lives

The first kid who had a PSP in my high school was this huge nerdy dude who got caught with some kind of extreme hentai on it, and it pretty much soured everyone on the thing.
Did he watch it on UMD by any chance? There were a few pornos on the format.

You're overlooking the fact that most console exclusives are poorly optimized and tend to run pretty badly on the console itself, which is why most people these days prefer to wait for the PC version. FFVII Rebirth for example, runs like absolute shit on the PS5. Even when you're playing the game in "Quality" mode at half the framerate, you still see lots of textures that failed to load correctly and the characters always have this weird light source glowing in their face whenever you come out of a building or structure and you always see a shit ton of pop-up textures everywhere when you're running around outside, I notice it the most whenever there's a lot of vegetation around. I seriously haven't seen pop-up textures this bad since the N64 days, and playing this game on "Performance" mode just makes everything look super blurry and gives me a headache. And to think Square Enix actually said that this game would "utilize the power of the PS5" :story:
Didn’t the FF7 ports also run like shit on PC? + You had to wait like 3 years for them to leave Epic.

Maybe Square is just retarded.

Yup. Steam Deck's probably going to wind up the first truly successful foreign game system in Japan.
It reached the point where the Steam Deck is appearing on JP game companies' user feedback surveys as its own platform, separate from even PC gaming.

On the contrary, PC gaming has gotten very popular in Japan in recent years, why do you think all of the major Japanese publishers have most of their games on Steam now? Hell Capcom themselves even said that PC was their "main platform" for gaming now.

Supposedly the FFVII Remake had some stuttering issues at launch when it came out on the Epic Scam Store, but I didn't buy it until it came out on Steam and by then the game ran pretty fine on my rig, and that was Kingdom Hearts that they held hostage on the EGS for three fucking years before it was finally on Steam.

The pattern for the past half decade seems to have been focusing on Switch first, then porting to PC & PS4 either same release date or shortly after. Sales are still way skewed towards Switch even with large % gains on PC.

With new Nintendo hardware and continuing to release on PS4 seeming like a bit of a joke who knows what the next few years will bring.

Square's the most perplexing game company I know of. They own both Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy, two anthology series that are regarded by many as having the greatest video games ever made, yet both of them require spreadsheets to point fans to which are the best versions of each game to play across different systems.

Dragon Quest is even worse than Final Fantasy about it because of silly situations like DQ4, where there are three versions: A NES version that's very outdated, a PlayStation version with no fan or official translation, and then a DS version that's, well, DS, a platform that's not so comfortable to play on a horizontal screen.

The increasing popularity of PC and continuing popularity of Nintendo will probably keep everything stagnated for a while. I'll believe those rumors that say the next Nintendo machine (Switch Attach?) is roughly on par with the base model PS4. iGPUs are actually decent nowadays, so it wouldn't surprise me if iGPUs by now could run modern games about as well as a 2013 PS4. So, you know, target that, and your game will also run well on Nintendo, the Steam Deck, and gaming computers from a decade ago.
