How Justin Mohn - accused of beheading his father - went from being named 'class clown' TWICE in high school to threatening to sue any girl who ‘brags about sleeping with me’ at Penn State after psychedelic drugs destroyed his brain
Former classmates of Justin Mohn told DailyMail.com that the alleged killer 'snapped' after taking 'a lot of psychedelic drugs', including LSD, while studying Agribusiness at Penn State University.
'It's common knowledge that he took a lot of LSD, and it's widely accepted by his friends that it destroyed his brain', one told DailyMail.com.
'He stopped responding to his friends, he just ghosted everyone. After he attended Penn Sate he would post these paranoid statuses and delete them.
'A lot of his friends had said previously that they wouldn't be surprised if he killed someone one day.'
On Tuesday, Mohn was arrested and charged with first-degree murder hours after beheading his father Michael, 68, and showing off his head in a
YouTube video.
Prior to Mohn's alleged drug use he was described as being 'cocky', 'snobby' and 'intelligent' during his teenage years, and even voted class clown in high school.
One pal told DailyMail.com that Mohn was a 'genius' who excelled at everything he tried, and showed no signs of mental illness.
They added: 'He was always happy, never upset, never angry. He never got into fights before college.'
'It was around 2015 that he started posting paranoid rants, that seems to be when he snapped and started having the same mindset as in his video,' they added.
Another friend of his said he 'honestly suspected that he was going to shoot up a federal building, and then this happened with his dad and he was found near the military base.'
Yearbook images from Carl Sandburg Middle School and Neshaminy High School show Mohn grinning after winning Class Clown two years running.
The 32-year-old also appeared in a school newspaper as a senior, saying that his superhero name would be 'Hairless Armpit Man'.
He was described as athletic but a little awkward, playing on the school's soccer team for several years.
Mohn even wrote in one friend's yearbook that they 'need to party sometime' and they should 'get out of the house some more'.
However, friends of Mohn say that he struggled to get a girlfriend throughout his life, which he lamented about in his self-published albums on Spotify.
Mohn started to post rambling and paranoid messages on social media as early as 2015, with one threatening to sue any woman who claimed to have slept with him at college in 2018.
'All 40,000 Penn State students already saw me as famous and too cool to show up to my own parties', Mohn wrote.
'I am not kidding, I will consider it defamation and or a tort if any girl I did not sleep with brags about sleeping with me - I'm sorry ladies you'll just have to consider yourself nobodies forever.'
He also proclaimed himself 'America's only rightful leader', and took aim at FBI Director Chris Wray for being 'corrupt' and a 'traitor.'
In another deranged rant he claimed that any law enforcement who did not side with him is a 'traitor to their country and will burn in hell' for their 'treason'.
Mohn, who was a debt collector when he moved to Colorado, wrote an open letter to Congress in which he claimed to work for Microsoft and was a whistleblower for the IRS.
He took aim at China, and called on America's military to 'obliterate the Communists ASAP' or else the country would 'slowly die'.
Another strange post depicted the American flag with Mohn's Militia emblazoned at the top, with three stages on how to join his network.
He warned that invitations came from him, adding that anyone else – even those related to him – were illegitimate.
Michael Mohn was in the Army Corps of Engineers where he worked as a geoenvironmental engineer in the Philadelphia area. Justin Mohn called his father a traitor to the country for being a federal employee for 20 years.
The Corps released a statement saying: ‘We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic death of our teammate Michael Mohn. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Mohn family and we are focused on supporting our grieving employees at this time '
According to a criminal complaint obtained by DailyMail.com, police were called to the scene after the alleged killer's horrified mother, Denice, 63, called 911 to report finding her husband's headless corpse in a bathroom at their home with a 'large amount of blood around him'.
Police discovered the man's head inside of a plastic bag which had been placed in a cooking pot in a bedroom next door to the bathroom, where they recovered a large kitchen knife and a machete from the bathtub. Detectives also retrieved bloody rubber gloves in a first-floor bedroom.
She reported to police that she had left the home around 2pm that day and that her son, and husband were the only ones there.
Police later received information about a 14-minute clip posted on YouTube in which Mohn declared he was the president of the United States and held up his father's head in a bloodied plastic bag as he slammed the LGBTQ community, the Black Lives Matter movement, Antifa, and the federal government at large.
Police have said it appears Mohn was reading from a script.
Angela Watson, communications director for the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, told DailyMail.com that Mohn was tracked by Middletown Police Department using his cell phone travelling upstate.
She said that his location first pinged outside of the Fort Indiantown Gap military facility, and officers rushed to track him down.
Watson added: 'Officers alerted the nearby restaurant and gas station that they were pursuing a suspect, and told them to lock their doors.
'He was then tracked down outside of the facility, where officers discovered his vehicle but he was not inside of it. There was another ping inside the installation and at that point State Police were informed.
'Mohn was found walking the installation on one of the main roads and was taken into custody without incident. He was armed with a firearm, and anything he may have said about his reasons for targeting the area is a question for the DA'.
Fort Indiantown Police Department were notified of his presence in the area at 9pm, with Mohn being arrested 25 minutes later and spending the night in a cell before being transported back to Middletown PD.
Mary Jasch, the sister of victim Michael, told DailyMail.com, 'It's unbelievable. It's very fresh. We can't believe it. I can't even think what his [Michael's] wife is going through. No one can believe it.'
