"Mad at the Internet" - a/k/a My Psychotherapy Sessions

damn bro i am suddenly filled with desire to do menial shit for an hour a day, you fixed it, good job.
Please know I hold you in the highest respect when I say that I only want you to remain healthy for as long as possible. Substances aren't the way to accomplish this. You already know the discipline and mindset it takes to work at something even when it all seems hopeless, otherwise this website wouldn't still be up.
I know you hate advice like this so I will just say you don't have to exercise daily, three times a week is plenty. 30 minutes strength/resistance training is perfectly fine, but cardio should be prioritized, 20min elevated heart rate.
Stay frosty.

That's basically it. It impacted every facet of my life, I did not feel good half the time, I had trouble concentrating on work, and it ended the nanosecond the relationship I was dieting for ended.
I feel pretty much exactly the same way in my current diet. Most of the time I feel like shit, and I imagine it's because we're so deficient in nutrition. Even after four months, at 183 I still don't feel as good as I did when I was 224. Granted, I'm losing weight pretty fast and my diet is completely different from what it used to be.

with no exercise besides moderate city walking
You might find this naturally changes when you get to your swamp. Nature is always gorgeous and calming to explore. If you get a doggo, they’ll help remind too.

I’ve never understood why people feel the need to exercise inside a gray concrete box, especially if they live in beautiful area.

I hated gyms and dont fuck with them, just getting weights for the home was what worked for me, the other thing was to change my mindset and instead of forcing myself to slog through a workout I instead blasted some music and used working out as a means to vent my frustrations, Its liberating to me to beat the shit out of my arms when I get pissed off at the world and I always feel like I have more patience for it afterward. Everyone has their own thing though and if it really makes you miserable then fuck it, you got one life buddy.

It's probably not possible to get the required nutrients from food alone because of current agricultural practices (particularly in the US). Supplementation might make a difference for you. Vitamin D, C, and B, zinc and magnesium, and some sort of choline source are a good place to start. It's not one of those things that will make you feel better instantly, but over months you will feel improvements in your energy levels

i ate fish and took multis. i don't really think there's a better foodstuff than fish. it's just a lack of calories. it was a keto diet.

Were you getting enough electrolytes? A common issue with keto is the body flushes electrolytes and causes what people refer to as "keto flu"

Every time I've ever succeeded at losing weight (lowest was ~185) was from diet combining alternate day fasting, counted calories, doing keto, with no exercise besides moderate city walking. At my best, I ate 600 calories on off days and 1800 on on days and I counted everything.
Was there a particular reason you went that low with calories? That’s like a bodybuilding show prep with only a few days out tier diet.

The general recommendation nowadays is a 500cal a day deficit, with the absolute lowest that people should go being a 1000cal deficit.

If you're not getting huge dopamine straight from the exercise you could try balancing your workout with learning. That's the only way it ever worked for me. I had to do it first thing in the morning to avoid any excuses coming up, and I had to combine it with something that made the time valuable to me.

this differs from just throwing on music or a podcast. Being just entertained didnt work for me. Research topics will vary according to the individual, but deep diving something specific I had an intense desire to learn about while working out to made it go from being a chore to an invaluable resource. This only works if you're an audio or visual learner though.

City walks were probably the best thing you could have been doing although "nature" is generally always better walking at all is one of the best things you can do physically and mentally.

Not sure if it was suggested already Josh. But you could ask Andy and PPP to go to the court if you need to send someone to stream it.
Not sure they won't get pissed and probably take your phone if you try to film Canadian court. I mean you could try to do it on the sly, and PPP is too large to do anything subtly and Andy's too burnt out.

I'm going to be the fencesitter and say that as someone who has had experiences with both gymming and exercising consistently, but then falling into habits of just watching the diet and walks, the feeling of soreness you get after exercising is "great" - it's the best proof that what you did was stimulating enough to your body, and keeping it up is going to lead to progress. If you do an exercise too many times, it stops stimulating your form and there ends up being no pain, a sign that you need to switch it up.

Nowadays though, due to time constraints it's just the controlled fasting and keeping up mobility. It's not immediate "dopamine" in the sense you get that quick proof that you exerted yourself, but since it works it shouldn't be shunned either. It's all in keeping yourself active in my humble opinion, and after that in the goal you want to achieve - whether a well-toned muscular form or a healthy weight and body that staves off illnesses.

Creamer is the most goyslop shit in human existence. I'm honestly surprised Josh can even get it in Europe. I had no idea what creamer even was until a year ago, when I saw people laughing at a black woman on Twitter complaining that the food in Italy was no good, because nowhere had creamer for her coffee. (They don't season they beverages).

Creamer is the work of Satan. It makes nestle baby formula look like ambrosia. It is fake Frankenstein Huxlian nightmare dust that fuels civilizational decline.

Absolutely anything is worth getting off the shit. Usually I'd recommend just putting actual cream on your coffee but if you don't really like the stuff to begin with, I'd say teamaxxing is the better choice.

As for caffeine pills, I'd say beware with that shit. I used them during Uni for pulling all-nighters and whilst they definitely get the job done, I could feel the stress on my body as I did it more and more. Emergencies only, I'd say, though caffeine does affect more than others.

There's no way you (or any person) is some biological eccentricity that stops effectively functioning on a consistent 1500 calories per day diet. You don't need to eat 600 calories on any day, especially if you're already overweight because then your BMR is higher. If you can eat a good diet (fuck any of these fad diets, just eat normal food with low sugar) at 1500 calories per day but physically feel bad, there's something wrong with you.

Not to interrupt the gym/diet discussion but I've been meaning to ask about this for months and finally have a moment.

On a stream forever ago, Null mentioned home security systems he wanted to try or look into more that didn't connect to a cloud or wifi. I would love that so I wrote down the names of them (Frigate & Pi-hole) but haven't had the chance to test any of them since we've been moving & renovating for the last year. Was wondering if he ever tried them or if anybody else has since he mentioned it.
