That coloring gimmick was supposedly influenced by Jim Rugg's Octobriana book that was printed to be read under blacklight like an old hippie poster. But Narwhal and Meyer failed to understand it's the black that makes it dynamic. Even Rugg's book kind of hurts the eyes to look at but Narzack is on another level of eye pain. This is a spread from Rugg's book:
Narwhal is one of the only comicsgate guys with "artsy" influences which in that bubble was confused for "good". His art is basically a demented rough sketch for some 3d environment like a video game. While the rest of Comicsgate is like durr why are comic not like Todd McFarlane no more, let me take 4 years to make one book that is not even that good. It hurts to continue to talk about them. I would be interested in @robo6 opinion of Narwhal though because he's probably the other most artsy artfag in that clique.

Well, his loyalty to Nick throughout this sordid affair was fucking dumb in the first place, and only driven by a desire to go after Eric July. It led him to do stupid shit like trying to blame Nick's 16 year old son for things.
Like I say, he's doing this because he's finally beginning to realize Nick is seriously compromised. Things get worse for Nick by the moment. Another big doc drop happened last night.
So, he's simultaneously right in the things he's saying now, but only saying them because he can't get anything more out of Nick. So yeah, he's still scummy.

Also, Flash has promoted indie creators like yours truly. He had me on his stream and I moved a lot of books as a result. People who have done me a solid like that will always have a special place in my heart.

Yep, I made that same point back when were all talking about 499 right around the time Zack decided to made the decision to rip off Octobriana.
Like his work or not, Jim Rugg knows how to make a comic. Jim Rugg has studied comic and pop art for decades and knows why certain things work and why certain things don't. He's an artist and understands technique. Rugg was trying to evoke 70s counterculture. Zack saw pretty color and he likey.
In Zack's "bisexual lighting" video he showed everybody the page from Rugg's Octobriana process zine he used to rip off the color palette. He literally used the Clip Studio color picker tool to lift the exact same colors Rugg used (except black) without adjusting anything and with no regard to whether they would look right or not.

I think the one time Meyer's color autism actually worked out in the end was with his GI Joe rip-off from his Knife-Hand book. I think he was going back and forth on the colors for this backup story for half a year.

It's cool that Rugg shared his process but I think he was hoping people would go and sample colors from the other old comics and not just jack his work and color palate that looks like a gay pride flag.

Danny boy has his issues, for sure and I get a laugh out of his hot takes. But hot dammit EVS is just insufferable with his grifting faggotry. If he actually got off the internet for awhile and committed himself to refining and finishing his comics he might have a decent shipping schedule.
One thing is for sure: associate yourself with EVS and he will eventually turn on you. Not if, but a matter of when.

Like a boomer who discovered some slang term that was played out years ago and can't stop saying it, Zack has latched on to the concept of "media literacy".
His understanding of this concept is equally as retarded as his complete misapprehension of the concept of public domain.
Rather than the accepted definition of the phrase (which is basically the leftist tendency to "decode" media and assess its "true" meaning and the harm or good it can cause), Zack has taken it to mean that since comics aren't movies or television or video games, any changes to a comic character's core identity/values/motivation in those forms of media are fine no matter what they are.
One of his dents asked him why his reaction to people complaining about the new Batman show having a female Penguin was the polar opposite of his reaction to Iceman coming out as gay in the comics and his rely was simply "Because comics and media literacy".
So just to reiterate, Zack believes "media literacy" is accepting that a Wolverine movie where he's a mincing queer barista at an LGBT womyn's co-op is fine because it's not the comics because Zack is a total fucking moron.
