With the food issues discussed previously in the thread, I can't help but wonder if that is what left both Jade Carey and her dad sick last week during the gymnastics qualification round.
I won't claim to be the expert on athlete diets and whether host nations can find a way to balance that with local delicacies. However, I know that elite athletes often have diets specific enough to the point they seem micromanaged and that anything that upsets that balance can cause problems.
Or perhaps the simplest explanation is those in charge simply fucked up badly when it came to food for the athletes in the name of cost-friendliness and eco-friendliness.
