So a new thing this Olympics is surfing is now included, and apparently it's a mess.
You're at the complete mercy of the weather, and even on a good day they spend 7,5 hours just finishing a heat.
I have no idea which moron decided this was a good idea
I think it was worth a shot. Catching a wave is part of the competition. Everyone's enjoyed the Tahiti views, too. Maybe get rid of surfing next time, but at least they tried <3

Paris got this right- the venues. Absolutely stunning. I've enjoyed watching for that alone. Horses cantering amongst the grounds of Versailles, epic beach volleyball in front of the Eiffel Tower, fencing in a gorgeous atrium. Love it. The color palette is also inventive and pleasant. Pale tan, lavender, and teal.

Anyone happen to see the end of the women's road cycling finals today? The US took the gold for the first time since 85. The winner came back from fighting for 3rd place with a few other people, ~30 full seconds behind 1st and 2nd, to take the win by ~30 secs or so in the last few miles. Once she caught up to the girls in 1st and 2nd, she just hit the boosters and took off.. literally! Even after all the work of catching up. The commentators were freaking out. Some of the other people in the group of 4 at the end with her were former world champions and gold winners.

She's only been cycling for around ten years.. not competitively but at all. She was a venture capitalist who went to school and into rowing.. started riding in NYC and went from there.. road cycling wasn't even her cycling event here. The most insane part of it all is that she didn't even qualify for a spot in the finals. Another member of team USA had to drop out and gave her the spot. Needless to say, not only was she not favored, she wasn't even on the fucking radar! Not even an afterthought in fact.

Oh and her parents were there to watch it live from near the finish line stands.

I see the TRA crowd describing the IBA as 'discredited' or 'corrupt' but they gain nothing but a headache from this, so why would they bother?

The "discredited" claims are solely based on the fact that TRA's and troons assert that what they want is fact. They literally try to claim that there is no difference between females and males pretending to be one... because they said so. The only thing i remember ever being able to find out about the claims against them are that they tried to limit or stop males from getting to beat females up in their own division. A lot of activist, media and political screeching and poof.

We need to have more of these feel good stories in the Olympics, and not the other stuff that is going on with it right now.

In Men's Golf, USA's Scottie Scheffler wins Gold, with a Bogey-free final round of 62. UK's Tommy Fleetwood takes Silver, and Japan's Hideki Matsuyama gets Bronze.

“We have two boxers who are born as women, who have been raised as women, who have a passport as a woman and have competed for many years as women,” Bach said. “Some want to own a definition of who is a women.”
The only people who "want to own a definition of who is a women" [sic] is troons. Everyone else is pretty settled what a woman is and isn't, and someone with XY chromosomes is not a woman, especially where professional sports are concerned.

The fact this dude is focusing on every aspect of these people's lives except the one thing that would conclusively, unambiguously settle the debate tells us everything we need to know.
“What we have seen from the Russian side and in particular from the (IBA),” Bach said, “they have undertaken already way before these Games with a defamation campaign against France, against the Games, against the IOC.”
Called it. I said days ago they were going to spin this as a Russian psy op, despite the fact the IBA already made these rulings years earlier, in events completely separate to France and the Olympics.

What's more likely: Russia orchestrated a years-long, 36-part 4D chess operation, specifically targeting athletes they somehow knew would end up at Paris 2024, or that these athletes are intersex with XY chromosomes and the IOC are too embarrassed to admit their progressive bullshit let a man beat the shit out of a woman on live TV?

I love stories like this one. They really make you see we humans are capable of much more than we realise. By all measures she is not suposed to achieve such a feat after only 10 years of training. But she did, and I think it's one of those "mind over matter" types of things. I haven't seen this, but thanks for sharing.

better put them all in burkhas so no one rapes them with their eyes
Too late.

ROFL That looks so retarded. This is what the idiots complaining about the sport's popularity really want. Didn't they try to push some kind of change through after their London games? I remember the tantrum after it became well known how popular the female version of this sport is with viewers. lol

Can you imagine playing dressed like that with temps in the mid-to-upper 80s and ~75% humidity?! ugh

The current match going on is much better. Team USA vs Italy. Both sides have outfits like those red ones from your pic. Want pics of that.

Even water can cause problems like this. So a handful of beans boiled in one place can cause a difference reaction to the same beans boiled in another place even though it's the same bag and place they came from. Pro athletes bring their own food usually to avoid these sorts of problems.
In that case, the problem isn't some vegetarian food, it's eating in the host cafeteria at all. Which means you can't blame the existence of a vegetarian menu for destroying your body right before your day of PEAK PERFORMANCE.

Moving on, Ilona Maher doing interviews about her bOdY iMaGe continues to make me laugh my entire ass off. Girl, your body is not the problem. Your face is. How much did Charles Gray charge you for that likeness???
