to me people having to grapple with the fact Lovecraft had these beliefs is a sign that his work remains relevant and meaningful to contemporary readers-- which, as a fan, makes me happy. otherwise nobody would be bothering to discuss him or deconstruct his attitudes etc. he'd just be a forgotten writer "of his time" instead of an undisputed grand master with a challenging legacy
