On a scale of no big deal, to wanting to slit your own throat just to stop the nightmares. the Rekieta CPS case is one that any sane CPS worker would love to have. Most CPS cases are not something that you put a quick fix to and wrap all up with a happily-ever-after bow. These cases stay on your desk for years, often generations, and all you do is document, document, document, until the suffering of children becomes just so many words on the computer monitor. The people who survive being a caseworker are those who realize that they cannot save anyone. They can only try to mitigate and minimize the damage.
