Dark souls and its consequences have been a disaster for videogame. From soft convinced an entire generation of retards that the best way to tell story is to not bother writing half of it and as long as you're vague enough with the presentation to let the audience fill in the blanks 90% of it with headcanon you can just let morons to do your work for you so you get all the credit while doing none of the work.

Worst part is that rainworld's lore isn't even that bad I like what they were going for but its the kind of thing that would have benefited from having an actual writer instead of doing the usual schtick "dead world, this time buddhist edition, idk figure out the rest"

Walking sims as a whole are made by pretentious "Games as art" type of people. and I despise walking sims. Why make a walking sim and waste a persons time, when you could just make a Visual Novel, and or a fucking old school adventure game, and cut out the walking. You get the same story in the end.

I like disco elysium but I can't for the life of me figure out who you're talking about, of the 3 right wingers in the game you have a nationalist young man (who admitedly is presented in a pretty positive light, he helps the elderly and tries to stop the drug trade in revachol), the reactionary war veteran who is more of the spicy grandpa type (still respected by even the socialists apparently) and measurehead which is a gag parody character only in the game for shits and giggles because the devs thought making the ultraracist supernazi a black man was funny.

I watched gameplay footage of this DOOM mod and while it's an interesting trip on it's surface to experience, the fact that brain-damaged, fart huffing faggots on youtube treat this shit as if it's high art or that it's """""deep""""" and """""meaningful""""" shows that TYD needs to happen.
It's an interesting experience the first time around when you deal with exploring and seeing it progresses as you go along, but I don't see how this is any different from the hundreds of other DOOM mods that try and invoke certain fear or storytelling outside of the forums posts that you NEED to read in order to get the full story. Such fucking astroturfed trite.

It sucks because the mod in of itself is interesting & fun to play, but it's muddied by the same shit for the past few years. Video essays just suck the life out of anything interesting, because of the whole "muh subjectivity" mindset these troglodytes operate under. I'm pretty MATI about how things are.

I've never seen anyone that has actually played disco elysium for more than 2 hours actually call it pretentious.

Near universally anyone who shits on it does so because a youtuber who's also never played it told them it was made by leftists and that's enough for them to completely write it off based on visceral emotion regardless of how good it actually is.

In my experience most of the time people who say bad things about disco elysium make shit up based on what they ASSUME the game is like without having played it because they're subhuman animals ruled by instinct and emotion that heard the game is made by left leaning people and that's good enough for them to instantly go full ape mode.

Disco elysium is extremely intresting because due to the way its writen (ontop of how retarded its critics are) you can instantly tell if someone has actually played it or not based on what criticisms they have of it.

No, I think disco elysium is great. Its up there with best RPGs of all time, part of the reason being that it has a simple surface and depth if you go looking for it.
