Have you noticed that VLC on Android kinda sounds like shit?

I was listening to a podcast on YouTube on my way to go backpacking once and decided I wanted to keep listening to, so I downloaded it before I lost reception, played it back in VLC and it sounded noticeably worse through the same hardware. I've since noticed the same thing with streaming music versus music downloaded from the current preeminent audiophile tracker, and the only common denominator is VLC.

Wondering if it's just me.

mp3 player wil pirated and bought music still stands superior to phones. no ads, no need to worry about turning the screen off. smaller, lighter, better battery life. and you have much better selection of music and quality of it. no need to be limited to the music on youtube/spotify and whatever low quality audio they offer you.

i could transistion this into my argument against streaming services and how normies are retarded for insisting they have to use those instead of buying/pirating media.

why do normies all insist on using their phone for literally everything when there are better ways to do things? they suck when it comes to watching movies compared to a monitor or tv. they suck at reading books compared to a dedicated ebook reader. they suck compared to a dedicated mp3 player. they suck for browsing the internet compared to a computer. phones should be limited to calls/texting and the occasional quick look up of something on the internet when you arnt sitting at a computer, not your primary means for everything.

Phones are multipurpose. I could cook dinner with a rice cooker, a slow cooker, a panini oven, a toaster, a waffle maker, an egg boiler, a hot dog steamer, a bread maker, and the barbecue, but the humble oven can also do all these things without taking up a tonne of shelf space. If I make a lot of rice and stews maybe I can justify the rice/slow cooker (and indeed I do swear by my crockpot, I use it almost daily), but buying a waffle maker when I make waffles maybe twice a year at most would be silly, I could as well just make it in a frying pan.

Until very recently the iPod Shuffle was the oldest piece of tech I still used regularly. It really was a brilliant little mp3 player. Just stuff it full of some cool albums, hit shuffle, hit play, drop it in your bra and go jogging or something. Music player perfection. Unfortunately my last spare earbuds for it eventually broke and I’d already gotten a smartwatch, so it got replaced with a pair of ANC bluetooth earbuds. It’s better all around, but I still miss that little iPod, just as I imagine people a few years older than me feel nostalgic about their cassette walkmans.

I think it was the ease of use that comes with it. Like how people would click 'Continue with Google' or 'Facebook' rather than making an email alias or even just using a privacy-respecting email. But no, because then you have to type example@123.xyz instead of just one click.
