I get why people think anime avatars are all creepy faggots, they're the loudest retards you see online but they're really the minority. There are some really good, interesting stories being told via animation and watching it won't automatically turn you into a troon.
The issue with anime is it has become mainstream on the Internet and in the west it has become a beast of its own compared to how it is in Japan.
Fair's fair, if you don't like it then I won't tell you to force yourself to watch any. Same with visual novels or manga. Some things just aren't for everyone and that's okay.
