Ukrainian Defensive War against the Russian Invasion - Mark IV: The Partitioning of Discussion

Well, so much for "LMAO where summer offensive?" I guess.

As far as I know the UA government hasn't yet acknowledged the Kursk activity and given an explanation of what their goals are. I'm curious what's being told to the citizens of the areas being occupied since there might be some answers there, though it's probably standard stuff about not panicking and following orders from soldiers.

Maybe they are going for the nuke plant. Occupying it could give them some bargaining power once Russia is ready to come to the table for reals this time. I just hope that whatever's going on, civilian casualties are being avoided wherever possible.

Also wonder how many UA soldiers are going, "hey, wait a minute, that was my car/washing machine/child!"

And Russia's internal security service, the FSB, recently said it foiled a Ukrainian plot to destroy its last remaining aircraft carrier, the Admiral Kuznetsov. The ship, launched in 1985, has been undergoing repairs since 2018.
I don't remember hearing about that, and I'm kinda conflicted on it.
It was part of a series of Russian claims about averted sabotage/bribery by Ukrainians. No evidence was provided beyond the word of Russian glowies, so nobody really cared.

Of course they blame Ukrainians, but knowers know.

Vladimir Putin's statement on the situation in Kursk Region.

The President called what was happening "a large-scale provocation by the Kiev regime".

A number of civilian agencies have been given instructions to provide the necessary assistance to the residents of the Kursk region. There will also be a separate meeting with the heads of the security forces.

Interesting, of course, reports are coming in. Several battalions of infantry with equipment, artillery and SAMs are being called (https://t.me/milinfolive/127726) a "sabotage and reconnaissance group" and a military offensive operation a "large-scale provocation".

Apparently, Ukrainians have advanced half way to Kursk NPP.

Aimed at the people living in the border region?
Sudzha, Kursk region of the Russian Federation. In fact, one thing is not entirely clear: has it always been like this here or is it only since yesterday?

Well, what's Putin going to announce now that his special military operation has turned into his own soil being counter-invaded?

If you're unfamiliar with the Sgt. York and its constant issues, go look into it. Now that's a vehicle that deserved the Pentagon Wars treatment. One time for a test the electronics malfunctioned because it had just been washed down, leading to a very sardonic comment from an observer wondering if it ever rained in Europe.
I know about the Sgt. York and the bad weather sealing. The biggest problem with the York was that conceptually it was fine: Bofors with fused ammo would have done just fine against the helos it was supposed to protect against, the Radar was actually very good (give me a second) and so on. It was just put together in a shitty way and mated to an already out of date chassis because COTS.

People go on about how the Radar tracked a "toilet fan" but what it locked onto was a cooling fan on a telemetry trailer near the range. In other words, the radar locked on to a small, rapidly rotating set of metal blades just like it was supposed to. And given that on a battlefield there are no telemetry trailers with ventilation fans stuck on them, how is this a problem?

Still, the teething problems the Sgt. York was going to have would have cost billions to sort out, and given how the USAF acts about the Army trying to defend itself in the air in a comprehensive way, they'd have found some other way to sabotage the thing. And, the media wanted SOMETHING, ANYTHING from Reagan's defense budget to die. They wanted at least ONE kill. They couldn't stop the Brad, the M1, the re-engineered B1, the new Navy ships, and so on. So went the Sgt. York. Given that they didn't have an infinite defense budget, and that something had to go, I'm glad it was that and not say the Brad or M1 or whatever else.
I still feel they should've named an IFV after Sgt. York, feels more fitting

▪️ On August 6-7, Ukrainian neo-Nazis carried out a massive terrorist attack on the Kursk region, using significant infantry forces and heavy armored vehicles.
[...]
❗️All these bloody crimes are taking place against the backdrop of the cynical silence of the West, which continues to cover up its Kiev puppets. All this only strengthens the sense of impunity of Ukrainian neo-Nazis, who are confident that they will get away with any crime. We call on the international community not to stand aside and resolutely condemn the criminal actions of the Kiev regime. <...>
link Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (yes, the real account)

The Investigative Committee of Russia has opened a criminal case on the fact of the attack by armed formations of Ukraine on border settlements of the Kursk region under several articles of the Criminal Code: terrorist act, murder, illegal carrying of weapons and ammunition, encroachment on the lives of law enforcement officers, and others.

Absolute clown country. Imagine simping for such lunatics.

Comment:
🇷🇺 Russia calls on the international community to strongly condemn the Kiev regime's criminal attacks on Russian territory (c) Maria Zakharova.

🇪🇺 Under international law, Ukraine has a legitimate right to defend itself, including by striking an aggressor on its territory (c) European Commission spokesman Peter Stano.

You asked - you were answered. A war of annihilation is being waged against us. The USA and the EU are completely satisfied with what is happening (https://t.me/SergeyKolyasnikov/61632) in Kursk region. They will justify any war crimes of the AFU.

What melodramatic crybabies.

>vehicle of type commonly used by the Russian army, sporting the standard markings applied to such vehicles by the Russian army (none), drives off the road at the front in Kursk and catches fire
>ziggers squeal about how this is a war crime committed by an invisible Ukrainian Stryker against invisible Russian civilians

link (zigger propaganda)

link (citizen journalist video)
Edit:
(To make it absolutely clear: The civilian with the dash cam arrived at the scene in-between the Bukhanka driving off the road and it being seen burning, and finds that there are dead soldiers with assault rifles lying on the road, that, as far as I can tell with the poor quality drone footage, were not there when the van arrived (it would have had to drive over them too). It shows that there was a significant time gap that was cut out of the Russian drone video and begs the question what happened in that time.)

Said zigger war correspondent reportedly just died in Kursk, a drone hit his car. His last post was disinformation, how fitting.

Edit: he is seriously wounded, but still alive as of the time of this writing.

This would explain why it was a surprise to the Russians. They weren't informed by their usual source.

This is what Ukraine should have done and wanted to do once Russia withdrew its Kiev attack at the start of the war but Washington pissed its pants and kept telling them no

This is exactly what any military with freedom of action would do, attack somewhere the enemy is weak because it concentrated elsewhere, to make the enemy break up its concentrations and be reactive. This is what the US would have done for sure a long time ago, attack in Kursk because the Russian army was so committed in Donetsk

Except the Biden Administration is still operating under the mindset Truman had lay out and that mindset is "don't scare the Russians into escalation of launching their nukes. In addition to penny packing supplying and making Ukraine fight to "not lose the war" instead of fully supplying and letting Ukraine fight to "win the war".

It's a concoction of Cold War Era "if we scare Russia, they'll nuke us!!!" but also Obama Era "table of nations" bullshit; wherein the US is just one actor and its somehow the responsibility of the US to cater to what our enemies think or feel.
