It was easier to watch such things in the past because the frequency it occurred seemed roughly proportional to reality. Every once in a while in real life you might expect to see a LEGBUTT+ person. There was a trans "woman" in a recording studio class I took in college one semester. They weren't everywhere in everything all of the time. Similarly, every once in a while there'd be some chick who was kind of tough and into doing dude things (usually on account of growing up with brothers or something).

The point being, when that crap showed up once in a while in movies and TV it seemed more reasonable at the time. But when it is obviously mandated to be in everything all of the time in service of some agenda - particularly when they're removing or sidelining popular characters to make room for the DEI versions, it's hard to give them the benefit of the doubt. There's not some huge supply of modern entertainment that has a normal cast with normal heroes to provide a strong anchor for the occasional experimental deviation. It's just all deviant all the time.

A lot of stuff that might have gotten a pass from normies in the past as something like an interesting curiosity instead nowadays just contributes to the fatigue audiences seem to feel. Again, because there's nothing else. It's the only thing we're offered. All of the time. Even if something seems fine, there will be some DEI crap sprinkled in there somewhere.

The big question:

1. Zack has truly awful taste so is it possible he actually likes this cartoon? I'll be honest: I have my doubts.

Zack actually said about one of those films that it diminished the film experience for him to see a film that wasn't doing well because he likes to go see winners. I have no intention on seeing it because it feels like a lazy attempt to capitalize on the bizarre success of Mad Max: Fury Road. Starring a woman who looks nothing like a young Charlize, trying to add more to a story that didn't need to be told in a Mad Max world where Max isn't around... Who the fuck cares.

It doesn't quite register to him because he's hung up on the "comics vs other media" thing, which is a prime example of a distinction without a difference.

He has to manufacture phantom rationalizations to somehow set himself apart from other angry middle aged dorks who bitch about entertainment on YouTube, but will ignore the real issue: his idiosyncrasies and crippling neuroses have stopped him from growing his audience. Gary has 3 million subs and doesn't mind showing his ugly face every day on streams. Gary works with other content creators and gives them a platform so their audience can grow as well. Zack hates the concept of interacting with anyone and sits inside a bubble where he can block mean comments and gripe about how stupid Gary and his massive audience are while he pumps out comics with pitches like "THE ROCKFORD FILES meets THE BOYS". Great work, Zack.
