I’m always a bit sceptical about these stories. A lot of Roman history seems to consist of the new guy’s supporters slagging off the old guy. Emperor Balonus increases taxes on the rich, historian twenty years later writes about how Balonus filled the Senate with donkeys and did copulate with them most lasciviously.

I've ranted about it before, but yes, Elagabalus being trans is an entirely modern idea. He was enormously unpopular with the Roman aristocracy, being essentially a Syrian teenager suddenly thrust on them as someone they need to bow and scrape before. It comes down to Syrian monarchy working very differently from Roman monarchy, Syrian fashion being entirely different from Roman fashion, and his being essentially a puppet controlled by his mother (and his grandmother). Romans didn't kowtow, but Elagabalus expected them to. Syrians dressed in silk robes and wore makeup, to Romans this would have looked like little more than drag. And Romans especially didn't subordinate themselves to women, so the combination of "he's a puppet of a woman" and "he dresses in drag!" would have been abhorrent to their sensibilities. Ancient Rome isn't called a patriarchy for nothing. Furthermore, Elagabalus was a sun worshipping monotheist, while the Roman elite were staunchly polytheist.

History books are written by aristocrats to flatter their new rulers, so when Elagabalus was deposed every author in the empire suddenly had good reason to slander him. Did he prostitute himself in the streets? Definitely not. Even if he was as depraved as the Augustan History (itself a notoriously untrustworthy work) proclaims his handlers would never have allowed it. Did he marry his eunuch slave as a bride? Almost definitely not, but it wouldn't be out of the question for him to have thrown an event that could be deliberately misinterpreted as such. He did wear a "dress" and makeup, after all, and the particular eunuch was a high minister (chamberlain) and as such a likely recipient of various honours from his master.

He may well have been gay, but in Rome that wouldn't have been an issue. The Caesar was at the very least bi, and he's celebrated to this very day. In the eyes of the Romans, so long as a man takes a wife and fathers some sons he can sodomise as many men (or boys) on the side as he pleases.

We are located in Maine. Please help if you can. I’m looking for the advice of an actual attorney, and I know these are supposed to be simple. This isn’t and I’m sorry. This falls under discrimination and pertains to healthcare.

My partner and I live in a small town in Maine. He is FTM trans, autistic, with a neurological disorder that is classed as a TBI and a whole host of other serious co-occurring conditions. During the pandemic, while at the local hospital for an issue not related to mental health in any way, a security guard was posted outside the door to his exam room. We were unaware of this. At the end of the visit, I closed the privacy curtain to allow him to dress and the guard ripped the curtain completely from its rail, exposing my partner, who was only partially dressed, to the view of the open hallway. Partner had his first ever non verbal breakdown. He is an SA survivor. He bolted straight for the exit with his hands over his face- and straight into the locked doors (this was during Covid and was not typical. Those doors open upon approach). The police were called. The hospital wanted to claim destruction of property while their doors were fine and he was bleeding. My partner received a trespass.

This is a facility that I had already filed numerous complaints against for their transphobia. I have recordings on my devices of members of medical staff referring to him as “It” and “That”. When they realized that we had started recording them, they claimed that bc the hospital was private property, the single party rule didn’t apply. It’s bs and I have been told so by the police. They tried to forcibly remove our phones, tried to kick us out for having one on us at all, tried to refuse stabilizing treatment on numerous occasions.

They redid the trespass last year after it had already cost my partner his primary care provider, his cardiologist, behavioral health specialists and all the other services that a chronically ill person utilizes a medical facility for. They also trespassed me, who hadn’t even been on site in more than a year. I lost my OBGYN and my psychiatrist.

They have labeled him as a violent behavioral risk and that flag in his chart follows him around like a tin can. It affects his treatment everywhere. He was never violent. Now the diabetes that was left brushed off by them when he spent months at crisis levels is doing irreparable damage. He’s developing much more serious cardiac problems and his mental health is rapid decline.

I’ve spoken to everyone. I’ve talked to the police, the court, the DA, submitted to the ACLU, contacted the Maine civil rights commission and the Maine Attorney General’s Office. I’ve gone through Disability Rights numerous times. They all tell me this sounds like a civil rights thing. They all tell me to get an attorney. Guys, we’re on SSI and we can’t afford one.

Can someone help us, please? They’ve stolen the last 3 years of his life. He can’t even get himself back and forth from the bathroom now. And I really think they should be held accountable, publicly, legally and financially for what they’ve done to him.

Cis women are truly oblivious when it comes to male sexuality​

Every single cis woman who claimed to be an ally genuinely thought that men who are married to cis women cannot possibly have sex with trans women. I was watching a TikTok video that someone posted here days ago, and it was a bunch of unattractive, wizened up, post-menopausal women with the appearance of dried prunes thinking they were superior to the dolls. These women said that a married man with kids would never be attracted to a trans woman... and that if a man is attracted to a trans woman he cannot possibly be attracted to a cis woman. They created this false dichotomy.

And then, of course, in the comments, there were tons of vomit-inducing cis men simping to cis women and saying they would never touch one of the dolls with a ten-foot pole.

I experienced this too when I was out. Cis women, even the ones who supposedly accepted me, couldn't possibly fathom why men would drool over me while completely ignoring them. Not only that, these women said that they are not homophobic but they would never ever date a man who has slept with a trans woman.

How can they be so stupid and oblivious? They truly have no idea what their loving husbands do behind closed doors. Every single client of trans escorts will be publicly transphobic and will say that trans women are disgusting. Every single chaser I have met is on Twitter or Facebook ranting every day on how unattracted he is to the dolls.

I was reading some comments on OvarIt for shit and giggles. Jesus Christ. They are seriously brain dead. There were cis women saying, "I've asked every single one of my male friends if they would have sex with a trans woman, and they responded, 'hell no!'"
