Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

The comical part to me is the choice to make "The Resistance" be a faction at all rather than just being a detachment of the New Republic Armed Forces or something like that.

It was that and the mind trick Rey did that took me most out of the movie even the first time I watched it.

You're dealing with a Hollywood writing complex that's permanently convinced they're the scrappy heroes fighting against DA MAN. Of course, the only good guy faction they can write is a resistance.

She was digging through junk in her opening arc. I figured she at least had the technical know-how to do that and don't see that as egregious personally. Her piloting the ship I think was more questionable.
It would've made more sense of she was Jaina Solo or some daughter of Han. That would explain her familiarity with the Force and the Falcon.

It was two early moments of TFA that made me check out from it and realize what I was watching.

1. When the old guy gives the map to Poe and says "This will begin to make things right"
2. When Finn willingly and eagerly shoots his former comrades while trying to escape in the TIE-Fighter with Poe

The first one made me internally roll my eyes and the second one made me give up and just zone out and try and enjoy the movie the best I could. By the end of it it was clear that these movies and the franchise were no longer for me.

After watching TFA, the first thing I wanted to do was buy KOTOR 2. Technically Star Wars, but the polar opposite of everything TFA is: deep plot, okay to good acting, janky animations, cheap to make (relative to TFA), has fan mods to make it better.

And just like TFA it was made by someone who didn't understand Star Wars.

Han's baffled look is what makes it so egregious, like he's looking at a literal mechanical goddess or something.

Her ability to download Force knowledge from Kylo Ren (apparently only explained in the novel) is the worst power of all.

who cares about kotor, you niggas ready to fly an executor?

she never flew one tho. it's like a mechanic that never drove a car, means it's all theoretical. and there's still the fact that frigging han solo has been flying that tincan for 30+ years.

your line of reasoning isn't wrong, but it's pretty much basic bitch writing backwards "how do we explain this? I know just make her do X earlier, that's gonna explain everything!". a better way to do it would be to have the falcon crash somewhere and after han has doubts ("don't mess with my ship") she fixes shit with a proficiency he didn't expect.
of course harrison ford not giving a fuck about acting in that scene doesn't help either.

It was when I saw starkiller base on the movie poster then I realized they are doing the deathstar again.

Rey getting angry at Finn for trying to hold her hand was also a moment and the implication that she knew more about the Millennium Falcon than Han Solo.

Avellone's understanding just did not coincide with yours.

But that's fine. You can give Kreia a middle finger all the way through and treat all of her ramblings as delusions of an insane Sith, who is (a)literally incapable of not deceiving, if her fellows' condition is anything to go by and (b)fell to the Dark Side when she decided that her teaching methods cannot possibly be wrong, what is wrong is the rest of the universe. The writers clearly have a favorite viewpoint, but they do not force it on you.

I don't even really like KOTOR 2, but let's give the credit where it is due, the story was fine.

So basically, The Goonies but in Star Wars setting.

Y'know, pretty much everyone agrees that the kids were one of the worst parts of the prequels, though not necessarily through any fault of their own (well, I dunno about That T'Wirp). This isn't limited to Star Wars, a really good child actor is a rare thing since they're obviously not going to have a lot of experience under their belt yet, so it's all too easy for them to drag down an otherwise fine production. So naturally, Disney's brilliant idea is to do an entire show where the main cast is nothing but child actors, and Jude Law for some reason. I'm sure this won't be obnoxious and terrible at all!

I know Hanlon's razor is a thing, but at this point, I can't think of any logical explanation for Kathy's handling of Star Wars than sheer malice. Granted, I do think she's also stupid, but it feels like nobody could make this many awful decisions about Star Wars without actively trying to fuck it up solely out of years of resentful spite for Lucas and Spielberg. It would not surprise me if she's actively shitting all over Lucas's baby as some sort of petty revenge, though I question why Iger hasn't gotten rid of her for tanking what used to be one of the most valuable brands in entertainment. He does like money, right?

Iger likes The Message more.

The other issue is in the rare cases you get a good child actor, the part they are written as is often annoying-at-best and would be just insufferable regardless of who was playing it.

I just want to take this trailer back 10 years, show it to Jude Law so he can see what becomes of his career, and see if he necks himself rather waiting to be forced to work with kids and animals.

Suburbs, but in SPAAAAAAAAACE
It's crazy to see the lack of imagination from the production. It doesn't look or feel like a "Star Wars" suburb. I know, it doesn't have to be Coruscant underground or another Mos Eisley but the fucking Prequels showed how to make various memorable worlds that look and feel like they belong in the SW galaxy.
To these people, all you need is a random funny-looking prosthetic on average-size body. It's exactly like the way Kurtzman Trek handle the non-humans: a prosthetic mask on a soyboy bodytype.

This series is suppose to take place post-ROTJ (in the same time frame as The Mandalorian). Is it going to be explained where Jude Law's Jedi character was hiding out during the events of the OT? Or is will this be another "canon doesn't matter" moment from Disney Wars?
