The only form of oppression that is profoundly harmful is demographic replacement. Because you can't come back from it. You're ruled by a foreign power, but they're not sending millions of settlers? You can kick them out. They are and there's nothing you can do about it? You're basically fucked and your problem is now forever.

The people that argue this don't even believe it themselves, it only applies to non-Westerners moving to the West, not Westerners moving away. They just use it as an argument to try and brow-beat you into accepting their insanity and allowing outsiders to flood into your country.
If an English couple moved to China and gave birth to a child, no-one on the left would ever seriously consider that child Chinese, even if they spoke perfect Mandarin and never experienced anything outside of China. Hell, most of them adamantly refuse to consider Afrikaaners as real Africans despite many of them living in South Africa for centuries, and they'll always be "colonizers" who'll never truly be African - but N'dongo Ubetwe can hop off a dinghy while speaking nothing but Swahili, get handed some citizenship documents with the aid of an NGO, and he's instantly just as European as the natives to these people.
