The Truth About Elizabeth Waite’s Suicide + Debunking Trans Lifeline’s Lies
Three days ago, a trans woman by the name of Elizabeth Waite committed suicide.
She left a note on her Facebook, a note that detailed all of the reasons why she felt she couldn’t live any longer.
This post has been archived for posterity, and was archived before /pol/ began posting nonsense on her suicide note.
Elizabeth Waite was mentally ill. She was struggling with BPD and a myriad of other mental illnesses. She was hospitalized multiple times, and struggled with alcohol and medication abuse, as well as a failing relationship, to the point where her wife had to leave such a toxic relationship for her own mental health.
Elizabeth was most certainly no saint; she struggled with drug abuse and
emotionally abused her spouse and, in extension, her child. Perhaps on both sides, the relationship was convoluted and toxic,
to the point where authorities had to be called.
Shortly after her death,
/pol/ on 4chan had a thread going, and many people on /pol/ took it upon themselves to shit talk her on her very own FB page–not even 24 hours after she had died.
Though, instead of people blaming /pol/ for its awful behavior–and rightly so–another website that had barely heard of her took the brunt of accusations. A website known as Kiwi Farms.
Kiwi Farms is certainly not a place for saints. Yes, the morals and rhetoric, as well as the language, can come across as rude, crass, and not to mention offensive.
Make no mistake, I am one to believe that a person–or in this case, persons–should answer for their awful behavior.
But to flail around accusations that have no merit is damaging and misleading. Kiwi Farms only grew interested in Elizabeth when they caught wind of her suicide. This lead to the website gathering information about her, and the very
widow of Elizabeth came forward to set the record straight.
You may notice that, in Elizabeth’s original suicide note,
she made no mention of cyberbullying or harassment. Many of the reasons why she felt hopeless was outside factors, including her relationship and her mental health issues. She needed help. But she wasn’t getting the help she so desperately needed.
So who, exactly, is touting the narrative that Elizabeth died because of Kiwi Farms’ nonexistent harassment?
Your very own Trans Lifeline.
The widow was kind enough to shed some light regarding Elizabeth’s struggles and involvement with Trans Lifeline–
even going so far as to say that Elizabeth only reached an operator once. There was even a point where
Elizabeth was on hold for hours. During one of Elizabeth’s suicide attempts, her widow described it as,
“She took a bunch of pills one night while John and I were asleep and she was on hold with the hotline.” There is further proof that Elizabeth attempted to get through to TLL, as evident by
one of her Facebook posts back in January.
Back on topic, though–it has gotten to the point that the
widow herself had to contact TLL’s founder in an attempt to make the organization and its cronies stop co-opting Elizabeth’s death for their own agenda. It quickly turned into people
twisting the narrative to make themselves out to be victims, with
TLL perpetuating said narrative, attempting to justify the fact that they were spreading outright lies for their own financial gain.
Greta herself blocked the widow from posting on the page anymore, thus silencing her and snuffing out any attempt to call out Greta and co.’s lies.
Even one of TLL’s blind supporters, Isabel Rosa Araujo, tried to make the widow make a choice: “us or them.” Instead of supporting her,
they would instead alienate herbecause she told them to stop being senseless idiots and monetizing off her wife’s suicide. Because she
dared to go against their narrative.
The conversation itself and the post containing said conversation has been archived for posterity’s sake.
Despite the fact that Elizabeth Waite thanked TLL in her suicide post, TLL did
nothingto help her in the first place. If anything, the organization
delayed the (tragic) inevitable. Instead of helping her–instead of having operators that were competent and readily able to talk her down–she was on hold for
hours, and only got through to an operator
once.
This is yet another example as to why Trans Lifeline is a scam and their volunteers are incompetent–a suicidal person should never have to be forced to be on hold for a hotline for hours, and touting about a person’s suicide for the sake of your own narrative is so disgusting, I shouldn’t have to explain why. Not only that, but TLL’s founder is attempting to shill for
yet another scam, called Trans Assistance Project, or TAP.
