You're dealing with a Hollywood writing complex that's permanently convinced they're the scrappy heroes fighting against DA MAN. Of course, the only good guy faction they can write is a resistance.
She was digging through junk in her opening arc. I figured she at least had the technical know-how to do that and don't see that as egregious personally. Her piloting the ship I think was more questionable.
It would've made more sense of she was Jaina Solo or some daughter of Han. That would explain her familiarity with the Force and the Falcon.
It was two early moments of TFA that made me check out from it and realize what I was watching.
After watching TFA, the first thing I wanted to do was buy KOTOR 2. Technically Star Wars, but the polar opposite of everything TFA is: deep plot, okay to good acting, janky animations, cheap to make (relative to TFA), has fan mods to make it better.
And just like TFA it was made by someone who didn't understand Star Wars.
Han's baffled look is what makes it so egregious, like he's looking at a literal mechanical goddess or something.
she never flew one tho. it's like a mechanic that never drove a car, means it's all theoretical. and there's still the fact that frigging han solo has been flying that tincan for 30+ years.
It was when I saw starkiller base on the movie poster then I realized they are doing the deathstar again.
I saw that as a feminism flag. Not enough to say it's shit, but definitely strange when a typical Hollywood movie would build a romance between them.

Y'know, pretty much everyone agrees that the kids were one of the worst parts of the prequels, though not necessarily through any fault of their own (well, I dunno about That T'Wirp). This isn't limited to Star Wars, a really good child actor is a rare thing since they're obviously not going to have a lot of experience under their belt yet, so it's all too easy for them to drag down an otherwise fine production. So naturally, Disney's brilliant idea is to do an entire show where the main cast is nothing but child actors, and Jude Law for some reason. I'm sure this won't be obnoxious and terrible at all!

The other issue is in the rare cases you get a good child actor, the part they are written as is often annoying-at-best and would be just insufferable regardless of who was playing it.
It's crazy to see the lack of imagination from the production. It doesn't look or feel like a "Star Wars" suburb. I know, it doesn't have to be Coruscant underground or another Mos Eisley but the fucking Prequels showed how to make various memorable worlds that look and feel like they belong in the SW galaxy.
This series is suppose to take place post-ROTJ (in the same time frame as The Mandalorian). Is it going to be explained where Jude Law's Jedi character was hiding out during the events of the OT? Or is will this be another "canon doesn't matter" moment from Disney Wars?
