Since he was the one who wrote the application, it's clear they are talking about him throughout when they discuss the alleged bias of the person who wrote it, but I will include this for completeness from around 28 minutes of the "Breaking down the Rekieta application for a search warrant" stream where they name him by his initials (QP) specifically so there really is no doubt.
They are making all strawman arguments too. The cop isn't unbiased when they write the warrant. They believe a crime has been committed. They believe Nick committed it.
It's the judge that's the disinterested party.
And Barnes knocking the cop for being in a small town department cuts both ways. Nick is just a small town junkie who would reply in the same slow local drawl that Barnes tried to disparage the Kandiyohi deputy with. If the deputy knows Nick, he can likely talk about his descent into addiction.
I'd really like to see Barnes bring that attitude into the courtroom with a small town judge, small town cops, small town jury and Nick. "Your honor, my super sophisticated client wearing the Hot topic belt, doesn't even know what cocaine is and didn't know what was in his safe and night table. These hick cops have been harassing my client by responding to 911 calls alleging he was being held by gunmen. They responded like his life was in danger rather than waiting until daylight and checking on him casually. All these residents of hick towns like Spicer think drugs are everywhere when they really didn't know it was cocaine until the state lab said it was. All you hicks have no business ever alleging drug crimes. Only inner city people know about drugs."
