Russian Special Military Operation in the Ukraine - Mark IV: The Partitioning of Discussion

War crimes only matter if you lose the war.
Which makes me wonder how everyone is gonna react when Russia publicly strings up hundreds of drone operators, foreign mercenaries, and officers. I swear. Drone operators in particular are going to be treated like snipers in WWII who got captured with explosive ammunition.

Sooo... between this and NATO personnel "supervising" the attacks, just how close are they tip-toeing towards that "NATO attacking Russia" red line now?

I know there are strategic and diplomatic reasons Russia hasn't gone gloves-off against nearby NATO forces but I assume there's an ultimate limit of what they're willing to tolerate.
For better and worse they (NATO) have always taken pains to escalate slowly against Russia. This enabled Russia to steadily recover from the blunders early in the war but it has also tied Russia's hands regarding escalation. If you had dozens of Bradleys rolling into Kursk in 2022 Putin might have pushed the button and certainly would have ordered a general mobilization. Now it's seen as a manageable crisis and the response is comparatively muted. For America this gradual approach is ideal because it weakens Russia and binds Europe to the American side as long as the war continues. For the Ukrainians this approach is less palatable because they simply don't have the economy or demographics to continue a war of attrition for another five years (i.e. the length of the Iran-Iraq war) so they constantly push the envelope hoping either for a breakthrough or for a Lusitania moment after Russia retaliates.

I think the more shocking part is that A-10s were not offered to Ukraine if they were willing to give F-16s.

A-10's are garbage and only usable if your facing sand niggers armed with with AK's. It only lives on today because of pork and political reasons.
A wiff of any sort of AD or MANPAD being around and it can't be used.

This is the most appalling part of the war - the psychopathic drone operators.

'orc ass blown off and shits self [fire emoji][laughing emoji][flag emoji]'

Comparable to some ISIS beheading video but in some twisted way at least the sand people have a message for society. Legit Cartel tier trash if I cared grade this garbage.

Asked in the Uke thread but this is probably a more appropriate place - Why is it a big deal a bunch of particular conscripts were killed or captured in Kursk? Hard to find sources.

Because it feeds into their myth that the RUAF are close to collapse and that Russian troops are low quality as a whole.
Nevermind that these conscripts were guarding the border and were neither equipped or prepared to repel a full-on invasion of armored/mechanized forces.

I'm just worried about the nuclear power plant, Since "Ukrainian" forces had no qualms about shelling NPPs inside what they consider Ukraine, they'd definitely blow one up one in Russia given the chance.
Using Russian vehicles and tanks, and likely uniforms as well, is as bad look for the Ukraine and NATO.
Ukraine has the second largest stockpile of Soviet equipment, are they deliberately using Russian markings and uniforms?

Yes, Kiev is fighting Russia/Novorossiya. America is fighting Europe and Europe-based companies.

I can't say for sure but some have made this claim.

Edit: Disguising oneself as an enemy soldier for espionage or perfidy purposes is prohibited and punishable as a war crime (this is a fuzzy area). Mercs, of course are entitled to zero protections in the Geneva conventions.

Some folks I know are sperging out about Ukies shelling/getting into Kursk. Keep in mind it's jsuT Ukie sources I'm seeing.
I'm getting close to tell them to STFU about their love for Russians being hurt/killed, and it's just Slavic folks killing each other (with the help of NATO mercs).

The big thing this has done is guarantee they get to wait till the November election in the Us and no major collapse of current Ukraine lines before then. (Im assuming reserves they were using to push will have to get divertes there based on Putind refusal to escalate)

As slow as Russia is they wont have them pushed out of Kursk till at least October.

Probably.

Harris is an idiot but she'll do whatever the Dem party masters tell her. If that's give Ukraine another $100 billion, so be it.

It's been almost a week and Ukraine is using the PR from the Kursk incursion for everything it's worth.

This is the second time in a year that Ukraine has come into Russia.

It's a war crime specified in the Geneva conventions.
Wearing the uniforms is not a violation provided you wear your own underneath. This was made explicitly clear at nuremberg. Technically neither is using vehicles. Its considered a legitimate military deception so long as its used for the purposes of things like surprise attacks or infiltrating enemy lines. Attempting to use them for a false flag attack on the other hand is another matter and absolutely is a war crime

That said I can't think of a single incident of anyone ever being prosecuted for doing any of that. Some were shot when captured as spies but prosecution is something else entirely. The allies did it extensively during commando operations and the germans did it several times in poland, during the invasion of norway and denmark and most famously during the ardennes offensive by a unit led by otto skorzeny. Though they did wear german uniforms underneath

OK I think there is another reasonable explanation why the border was not protected.
They allowed the Kursk attack to happen just so they can further propagandize the Russian population to get more people involved in the war showing stronger support for the war than they did before. Surely that is the reason why a country that brags about how awesome they are at chess(strategic thinking game) would make such a monumental fuck up that a middle schooler wouldn't make after he gets taught the Belgorad lesson.

Reminds me of the book Player of Games, where an entire civilization uses a mega-chess equivalent wargame tournament to determine political positions every N year. Didn't work out for them either. Chess is not a great predictor of military strategy. Maybe it was back in the days, but modern chess is deep, deep autism, way too specific to chess than to be applicable to the real world.

The US Govt has a history of not giving a crap, much like Israel. Nuking civilian centres, carpet bombing entire countries, spraying entire jungles with Agent Orange. While the press says "dictator of the month" is a lunatic, the US Govt is projecting. 🤷‍♂️

Precisely. The only excuse one can have for not hating the USA is a lack of education.

The A-10 was survivable in the 1970's and 80's when it was new and before MANPADs were ubiquitous. It's big, slow and very radar reflective, so would last about as long as the Bayraktar TB2 in Ukraine.

Edit: sorry, Brrtniggers, it's true:
To further illustrate this point, the biggest losses for both the Ukrainian and Russian air forces have been among their Su-25s, a plane that fulfils the same combat role as the A-10 and was developed at about the same time as the A-10.

We have detailed accounts of quite a few of Napoleon's chess games, since it was popular at the time to record your games turn by turn. He was ok, neither particularly bad nor particularly good.

This is overly optimistic. Bakhumt, Avdiivka, and the new north offensive have all occurred when the Ukies were actively feeding reinforcements into those battles and we still saw major breakthroughs/advances. And that was with the Ukies sending some of their best units. I'm not saying a collapse will occur, but to say it can't is over optimistic.

It sure is hilarious that the best "warcrimes" you can come up with are. One, nuking the Japanese, which was done before laws regarding war crimes was passed. Two, use of area bombardment, which isn't even a war crime. Three, use of agent orange, which again isn't even a war crime. I'd expect someone to mention the torturing of Iraqi insurgents or something similar, not utter nonsense.
