I remember watching an interview with Obama's campaign manager, and he talked about how strategic the placing of people is behind him; they would clear out the old white people and move them in the back and replace them with young black women so the TV cameras would catch it. Im not sure if this is what Trump does, but I would not be surprised.

That's probably just a TV thing in general. Like 15 years ago I wanted to see a musical act that was going to be on Jimmy Fallon so I got tickets for his show. They let us in and we all sat down. Then someone came around and started pulling everyone out of their seats and moving everyone around. By the time the dust settled I realized what they had done - anyone weird looking, old, overweight, etc. were all moved to the back. Anyone young, attractive, etc. were all moved to the first few rows where the cameras always get some of the audience. They think somehow that presenting a young, attractive audience makes the show look better.

Do you niggers not know how music licensing works? There are these two REALLY big music publishing companies, ASCAP and BMI. Musical acts and composers sell the publishing rights to their recordings/songs to these companies that do all the leg work of licensing the music to radio stations, bars, clubs, anyone who wants a license to play either or both of those companies' catalogues of music. In return, the composers and performers don't have to do that time-intensive work and instead get a big, fat check and then regular royalty checks based on number of plays, licenses, or other metrics.

The GOP or individual campaigns buy licenses from ASCAP, BMI or both, WHICH GIVES THEM THE RIGHT TO PLAY WHATEVER SONG IS CONTAINED WITHIN THAT LICENSE, and they don't have to ask the composers or acts a goddam thing.

Yeah, Neil Young or some other rich, shit-lib act can seek attention and virtue signal by announcing that they "didn't give those eebul Redumblicans permission to use my toooons." Except that they did when they sold their publishing rights. And there's fuck all they can do about it.

Close. You don't go through ASCAP or BMI or SESAC (you forgot them) to license. You go through the Harry Fox agency to get the license for mechanicals or sync, etc. Then ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC all collect the royalties for you. And of course that's if the cue sheets are filled out correctly - that's how they track the royalties. I've actually hired people to spend time auditing ASCAP to make sure I get the money I'm supposed to.

Sorry, just a stickler for making sure people have the correct info on this stuff. Especially since my career has been in music for the past few decades and I've done a ton of writing for TV and have had my stuff licensed.

You guys have to remember that Harris voters are mostly upper middle class middle aged post menopausal women who are either completely supported by someone else, husband, parents, inheritance, trust fund, or employed in the bullshit HR, Diversity officer, project manager sphere.

They're among the most economically comfortable Americans and not swayed by arguments that the economy is getting shittier because much like people on welfare it doesn't really affect them.

This is the part that always astounds me - how disconnected they are and they refuse to accept otherwise. I know a guy who's very successful financially. He's the CTO for a very huge, well known website. He's part owner in some very successful nightclubs / performance spaces in NYC, one of them he's partnered with a well known celebrity. So suffice to say he's very comfortable financially.

He's one of the most hardcore lefties I' know. A real true believer that goes into frothing at the mouth seizures at the mere mention of Trump. Anyway, I even said to him once about how the economy is a disaster and we can't continue down this path and he flat out was like, "I don't know what you're talking about. The economy is doing great". I pointed out to him how the price of things have increased and how bad inflation is and that the fact he's well off really insulates him from the reality and he just insisted that him having money has nothing to do with it. I'm completely wrong - the economy is doing great.

It was pointless to continue the conversation with him in any form. I mean I could have at least respected him if he said, "I don't mind voting blue because no matter how bad they trash the economy I don't feel it" but the fact that he kept pushing back that there's absolutely nothing wrong with the economy and his wealth doesn't play a part in isolating him, it's just baffling how disconnected people can be and how much they can refuse to accept the truth.

IF this were the case, I think this would be a good idea for the campaign to hear. Trump's tariffing of China. Frame it as an eco-tax for products coming from companies in China that are bad polluters.

Gets the tariff money, starts to get Chinese markets more opened up to American products, brings some number of jobs back to the US, and essentially immunizes Trump from the crazy environmental reactionaries and their useful fools, at least on that issue.
