Why would anyone take a phone call from Nick, seriously. I wonder why Null does so. If you're really done with someone but for some reason there has to exist a communication line, they can place their concerns in written format. I don't hear of Null picking up the phone to call Nick for an hour, just the other way around. The phone calls can serve only one purpose: to influence the thinking process of the listener. I don't know the content of the calls neither do I wish to know, but the fact that anyone would tolerate a hour of Nick on the phone shows the patience of a confessional priest, or a part of them is holding onto what they knew of a person in the hope that goodness is still alive or that they will turn a leaf.
If you truly believe a person is a narcissist then all the communication is for their benefit alone - not yours. They make lousy friends and if you find yourself feeling for one, then you've been subjugated all the while thinking you're in control. You are in the orbit of a narcissist.
The only thing that changes a narcissist is death, all other therapy is void of results and hope for anything different is an illusion. Nick may change his actions for fear of consequence, but the same man lives beneath that lie, and eventually will surface again when the mask becomes suffocating. They DO tell the truth, even when they lie.
