From the article you linked, it reads like he was trying to play it off as being respectful and genuinely curious if the LGBT crowd was right, only to realize now that they're dangerous. I don't see anything wrong with this. Again, many of us can relate going from "live and let live" to "why the fuck do they want to cut off the penis of an 8-year-old?"

I didn't say it lets them off the hook. Hitler wanted as many Jews and other undesirables to die as he could get ahold of. It wasn't as though he was just going to put them in camps for a little while, but they all slipped in the showers and unexpectedly died. To Mao, six million peasants dying was viewed as a misfortunate outcome or an unintended side effect on the path to communist utopia. To Hitler, six million Jews dying was fewer than he would have liked.

My point is that communism is so terrible that it winds up killing just as many or more people out of incompetence and the idiocy of the belief system than other totalitarians kill out of intention. Anyone wanting to point to massive body counts as intentional acts of evil would find better comparisons such as Pol Pot or Yahya Khan.

Walz has a point that the Holocaust shouldn't be considered special. I'm sure some people would point to the far more systematic way that the Germans carried out their ethnic cleansing, but it should of little surprise to anyone that an industrialized European nation would be better at genocide than some random group of mud people.

It's staggering that even when Dems control the presidency and the Senate, they just can't muster up any energy to be happy.
