Similarly, it's highly improbable the states in question would accept the return of these people. Thanks to a long habit of destroying documents on entry, you'd also have the task of trying to prove which country some of them are even from.

Then there's the ECHR. Labour and the Tories have promised to both flout various articles of it if they're willing to accept it or not. It's highly likely signatories would object or prevent the UK, or another state, attempting to deport people en mass. Not purely out of alutrism, but also because they don't want to become potential asylum destinations either.

The Idi Amin approach? Be serious. You'll be hard pushed to get the most racist of Brits to endorse that.

Closing the gates is very late coming, but it's going to take a concerted effort to dismantle communities as they are and force people to integrate. And even that is going to be a hard, if not impossible, sell to many people because of the backlash some religious/ethnic communities will have against it. Not purely in Europe, but worldwide (try to break up a Muslim Enclave and I'm sure the Middle East will retaliate).

There's some truth to it. Gadhafi warned that Libya was a wall keeping waves of migrants from Sub-Saharan africa from Europe and that if the West destroyed Libya, they would destroy that wall. It was Hilary and Sarkozy's war and being more politically active back then I argued a lot against the UK getting involved in it. The justifications were lies, it cost us billions and it turned Libya from a state with a strong leader to a terrorism factory governed, if you can call it that, by two separate parliaments and three different power factions and an outpouring of not only dispossessed Libyans to Italy and Greece (and from there onto other places), but also the predicted wave of migrants now able to traverse Libya's porous borders. The Ariana Grande bombing was done by a Libyan, whose family were enemies of Gadhafi.

Syria we've been trying to topple Bashir Al-Assad forever, source of many "Who Must Go?" memes, to the extent that we've funded and trained groups like ISIS and bombed in support of Al Quaeda. There are now almost more Syrians in Europe than in Syria, I think. Ukraine had a peace deal with Russia more or less ready to go until Boris Johnson flew in and told Zelensky that we'd back him no matter what and as much as needed. Now we've had two years of proxy war with Russia and floods of Ukranians pouring into Western Europe and goverment sponsored programs in the UK to house them. Amusingly, I've seen posts from British women complaining about Ukie women "coming over here and stealing our men". Well, obviously that wording would be too on the nose, but basically that.

You can set ethics aside even, if you want, but on a pure logical basis, we have privatised the profits of war (Raytheon, Lockheed, etc. ) and socialised the costs. As usual. An 11-year-old girl and 34-year-old woman have been stabbed in London's Leicester Square, the Metropolitan Police has said.
In a post on X the Met said a man has been arrested and is in custody, adding the force does not believe there are "any outstanding suspects".
The two victims were taken to hospital and their condition is currently unknown, the post continued.
Police officers remain at the scene, which is in one of the busiest tourist districts in the capital.
