Ukrainian Defensive War against the Russian Invasion - Mark IV: The Partitioning of Discussion

We cannot forget that for many years Sudzha was the capital of the Ukrainian SSR. As consequence Kursk Oblast falls within the strategic sphere of Ukraine. The world needs to come to terms with this historical and political reality.
The civilians of Kursk oblast have not opposed the invasion liberation at all, this must mean they want it to be part of Ukraine

Doesn't Putin know that NATO is a nuclear power? Why would he risk WWIII by not giving up Kursk? Its for the sake of world peace. Its historically been a part of Ukraine, and the civilians didn't resist, clearly being a part of Ukraine is the will of the people. Its a single Oblast, Russia has more land I dont' see why Putin is making a big deal out of it and not immediately starting peace talks.

I think he's making a joke about how the T-14 still hasn't appeared in theatre.
if so I'll take my Poe's Law L.

(Though it did appear in theater but so back it practically never left Russia, never even got close to combat, and then pulled back very quickly when the BMP-T's got BTFO)

It's past time to start talking about whether Ukraine should annex Russia up to the Urals, leaving a pathetic moskal rump state in Siberia (minus what China takes), or whether Ukraine should take it all. All Russia is doing is consigning more of its citizens to needless death and destruction you know. They should own up to reality and bring peace already

Every single fucking time I change my mind about the conflict in Ukraine and believe that Ukraine should engage in peace talks with Russia and foreign aid should be lessened, they do some immensely retarded shit they shouldn't be capable of, like thunder running like they're the US Army circa 2003, sinking the Moskva, invading Russia, or invading Russia again. As much as I want the average Hohol soldier and citizen to win, I am miffed they keep making me look retarded. Maybe I'm cursed to always have the wrong opinion about this conflict?

You know, Ukraine should unconditionally surrender immediately.

(Is it working? Are they in Moscow now?)

This incursion makes me wonder how tough the Russian border is either side of the Vovchansk salients. The biggest one is 27km wide, you totally could encircle that in a day with good enough roads.

William Spaniel on Ukraine's thrust which has taken c. 625 sq km. (I note myself that when daily killings of civilians occur in Ukraine, the UN sleeps, only now when Ukraine are some distance from Kursk's nuclear power plant that isn't even a target do they pipe up, perhaps thinking a retarded trade for the Zaporizhzhia NPP is afoot.

Why would that be retarded? It seems to have worked well for the nuclear-blackmailing Russians occupying Zaporizhzhia NPP. No serious strikes can be attempted on the forces there. It’d be great if the Ukies could capture Kursk NPP & occupy it, being supplied via air or cargo drones if necessary. I’d think that would put Ukraine in a stronger negotiating position. At the least, it would be good to be in a position to scram it & withdraw. The Russians’ latest showing-ass today at Zap NPP is pretty telling:

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reported that the Russians have started a fire on the territory of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP).

Source: Zelenskyy on Telegram; Yevhen Yevtushenko, Head of Nikopol District Military Administration; Ihor Klymenko, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, cited by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine; the occupying administration cited by Russian Kremlin-aligned news agency RIA Novosti

Quote from Zelenskyy: "Enerhodar [the town where the ZNPP is located – ed.]. We see from the city of Nikopol that the occupiers have started a fire on the territory of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.

As of now the radiation level is normal. However, as long as Russian terrorists remain in control of the nuclear power plant, the situation is not and cannot be normal. Since the first day of the occupation of the ZNPP, Russia has used it purely to blackmail both Ukraine and the whole of Europe and the world.

We await the world’s response, as well as the response of the International Atomic Energy Agency. Russia must be held accountable for this. Only Ukrainian control over the ZNPP can guarantee a return to normality and complete safety."

Details: Yevhen Yevtushenko, Head of the Nikopol District Military Administration, had previously reported that the ZNPP was operating as usual, and the Russians had likely set fire to a large quantity of car tyres in the cooling tower.

Quote from Yevtushenko: "Unofficial reports obtained from sources on the opposite bank say that the Russians set fire to a large quantity of car tyres in the cooling tower. This may be a provocation or an attempt to cause panic in the settlements on the right bank of the former reservoir.

At the moment the ZNPP is operating as normal, or as close to normal as possible in conditions of occupation. Please keep calm."

More details: Later Ihor Klymenko, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, reported that as of 22:30 no changes to radiation levels at the ZNPP had been documented and no radionuclides of man-made origin have been detected.

He noted that Ukrhydrometcentre (the Ukrainian meteorological service) posts near the plant were operating as usual in order to facilitate timely monitoring of the background radiation.

Meanwhile, the occupying Russian authorities have blamed Ukraine for an alleged attack on Enerhodar, yet they claim the background radiation around the ZNPP is normal.

First thunder run was the U.S. Army trolling Baghdad Bob and sycophant media with a "can you hear/see me now" drive by photo op in the middle of Baghdad before leaving. Second thunder run is the one everyone refers to nowadays as it is the one to take and hold dirt in the middle of Baghdad.

tfw you realize vatnigger thinks nuclear explosions look fundamentally different from non-nuclear explosions in all cases

(they don't, any explosion big enough can create a mushroom cloud shape, nukes just create much much much much much bigger ones)
Ziggas must've been sleeping when Beirut went under a mushroom cloud of its own.
If the thing with Russian occupiers setting some garbage on fire at ZNPP as a distraction is real, then it's extremely pathetic

tl;dr Russia has a very long border with Ukraine. If you are Ukraine, you need to keep at minimum a delaying force along the entire stretch of the border (see: Russian Kharkiv incursion). Ukraine has surmised that Russia has not reciprocated and took advantage of that fact to humiliate Putin.

It was a T-14 Armata reference.
You Poe's Law'd me good. Well done.

Small point of order:
"Thunder Run" has changed definition. The first "Thunder Runs" were in Vietnam where M-60s would run topspeed down a length of road to detonate any mines* - the mines being the thunder. (*The M-60, especially moving at full tilt, was too tough for any vietcong mines to penetrate, but it might take a tread and otherwise you don't want to get hit by any explosive. But if you didn't let off the gas they would nearly all detonate behind you).
Annecdotally (I cannot find any official sources on this, but some guys on the internet swear its true) it then morphed into any situation where you were in armor and moved at top speed and stopped for nothing.

The modern definition of a Thunder Run, that is a blitzkreig fast penetrating attack by armor moving ahead of traditional infantry support designed to penetrate an incompletely/improperly secured perimeter, originated in Iraq as you describe, and likely borrowed this name due to someone who had armor experience in vietnam/close training with someone who was in Vietnam or otherwise equated tanks moving at full tilt and never, ever stopping to the vietnam era demining tactic as above.

Yup, the FBI raided his home in Bethlehem, New York on August 7.

Here's some news coverage:

Here's a longer story with some historical background, from Albany's Times Union:

For those wanting a short refresher, here is some Ritter reading material:

If he fears arrest, perhaps he'll flee to Russia permanently, hoping that his relative wealth can buy him very young female companionship.

tl;dr All (unconstrained/uncontained) Explosions create a "mushroom effect". For there to be a visible mushroom cloud, the explosion needs to be powerful enough to stir up particulate matter or cause changes in the atmosphere. The explosion must also be powerful enough for the rising heat of the "cap" to rise rapidly enough the cooler air rushing in to fill the vaccum caused by the contracting heat to create the "stem", and these actions must be strong enough to counter act any other atmospheric forces.

Why would that be retarded? I
The NPP threats works great for the Russians, but for Ukrainians Zaporizhzhia NPP under them would be completely dependant on Russian goodwill. A shut down plant still needs electricity and workers - basically providing the Russians with a new hostage, unless the withdrawal meant several raions, perhaps most of what they hold in the oblast. I don't see thst happening short of Russian collapse in that sector. Spaniel did half suggest Putin might look for a no raids (now Kursk v Kharkiv) but that'd be a gain for Putin.

Scram it and smash up everything expensive. Given the state of the Russia, it would essentially be unrepairable, permanently crippling their power output by giving Putin a lump a cold uranium that's neatly and safely contained.

Not really a good idea. A nuclear reactor isn't something you can just turn on and off. Its always on even when its off. An offline reactor is less a sleeping cat and more a tiger that has been collared and is held in place by a bit string tied to a wooden stake in the ground. The reaction does not stop completely. Its just very tightly controlled and requires lots of external power to keep continuous amounts of coolant flowing. Its the one issue with nuclear power. Its more economical to keep the thing on all the time. The only time its "off" is when the reactor rods are completely depleted and need to be replaced. And even then they need to be put in a retaining pool with constant rotation of fresh coolant.

Setting a bunch of retards loose in the facility to "smash shit" is a good recipe for bad things™ to happen.

Given who actually owns it, I don't see why Ukraine would care about trying to help Russia stay maximally efficient regarding how much power the KPP is making. Just reduce the plant's power output to be only enough to sustain its core (dunno if just slamming SCRAM is going to do that or not). What's Russia going to do, kick the Ukranians out after failing to do so when they had even less of a foothold?
