An 11-year-old girl and 34-year-old woman have been stabbed in London's Leicester Square, the Metropolitan Police has said.
In a post on X the Met said a man has been arrested and is in custody, adding the force does not believe there are "any outstanding suspects".
The two victims were taken to hospital and their condition is currently unknown, the post continued.
Police officers remain at the scene, which is in one of the busiest tourist districts in the capital.

The prototypical example was allegedly posted soon after ww2, at a time when tensions were generally still high and there was a mass of itinerant workers roaming around, trying to find any employment.There has been a concerted effort to deny any sort of discrimination against the Irish in England, despite how common it was until even the 90s, because such discrimination destroys the idea of white privilege. If a "white" person can be discriminated against for ethnic reasons by other "white" people, then suddenly non-whites are no longer uniquely discriminated against.

I assume they don't see the irony in their wholesale appropriation of the Irish struggle for independence, when at every other moment they lump the Irish into the formless mass of "whiteness" and rail against their existence as racist colonisers. I'm talking about the adoption of "No Blacks, No Dogs, No Irish" signs/policies, which I haven't really seen as something that happened (Other than perhaps singular isolated cases). There was absolutely discrimination against the bogtrotters, I'm not disputing that.

A much-reproduced photograph is held by the Irish Studies Centre of London Metropolitan University. It depicts a front window with handwritten signs saying “Bed & breakfast” and “No Irish, no blacks, no dogs”. The photograph emerged only in the late 1980s, and the university has conceded to me that it is of “somewhat uncertain” provenance. They have been unable to discover who took the picture, where or when. An old news clipping which I have presented to the university points to the image having been mocked up for an exhibition called “An Irish Experience” mounted at the now-defunct Roger Casement Irish Centre in Islington, London.
