I live in America and what I find is the Sikhs here are pretty good at assimilating, they are more open to marrying outside of their community and are less enmeshed with their children. Sikhism has a lot of teachings that actually encourage assimilation between cultures , treating women as equals , and warned about asceticism harboring perverts. Sikh women were allowed to be leaders of Gurdwaras, fight alongside men in war, and wear pants in the medieval age. I have yet to find something in Sikh religion that is superstitious or insulting to women, non-Sikhs.
