TGWTG Linkara / Lewis Lovhaug - HMMMMMMM? (Dead Gay Muppet Gangbang)

He really has no concept of saving money, does he? Lewis, what you do is you open up a savings account and put aside an amount. Knowing who we're dealing with, let's make it five percent every month, which for him is about $130. After sixteen months you'll have a nice little cushion that'll keep you safe, and if you keep up with that contribution, you'll have an emergency fund in case of sudden medical issues.

His parents absolutely failed him if one late pay check in sixteen months spells doom for him and he can't even fathom a solution most of us could come up with in seconds.
So this isn't even something that's coming up fast on him next week, he has more than a year to get his shit figured out. How ridiculous.
YouTube‘s fame is extremely fleeting.

Even Doug, who is still earning decent money is now in his twilight phase of his career, and way past his prime. Yes his reviews are still profitable, but very very far from his peak.
Keep in mind that Doug's videos are only in decline because of his horrible review of Pink Floyd's the Wall. If he didn't clown on that movie and gave it a serious shot with actual research, he'd still be as popular as AVGN still is, but Doug's problem is that he can't help but be Reddit incarnate.
The only smart YouTubers are the ones that take it as a side gig, or are earning a lot of more money than they ever would with a real job, maybe even millions, and are saving, and investing their money for when the well dries up.
People have been saying this since the Blip.tv years and Youtube has only gotten more profitable with sponsorships and Patreon alts, what you're saying hasn't reflected reality for a long time. If DSP or Ethan Ralph aren't in trouble after all this time, why would Linkara?

I see that he makes about $2,500 a month, if he took sponsorships on top of it he'd probably at least double his money. Does he sell merchandise at all?

It's a children's show and it shouldn't be taken too seriously.
As a kid I didn't even notice, all I cared about was seeing guys in costumes fight. I don't think anyone cared.

But he won't do any of that because he only covers that stuff which he likes and it would mess with his continuity because his story lines are on par with Lord of the Rings for importance as far as he's concerned.
He's going to run out of things to talk about at some point.

Think Peweiepie or h3h3 as much as he is a loathsome person. And it will dry up. It’s not a matter of “if” but “when”.

People like Linkara that barely make more money than a random office job, are both lazy and stupid beyond belief. Lazy because they could be making more money doing a real job, or doing their YouTube videos on the side. Because contrary to what Lewis believes, reading comics in front of a camera, and watching tv shows for children (aka Power Rangers) is not hard.

Reality will hit him hard once he loses the little fame he has left from his time leeching on Doug, and he will find himself with no job experience , no savings, or real skills whatsoever. Unless his fans bail him out, he will be lucky if he ends up in retail.
For Lewis it is especially dire.

if Doug invested even a tiny portion of his paycheck in the feast days, in modest investments, and continues to this day, he would have enough to retire comfortably.

Lewis has a degree, a major in english, with a minor in philosophy. The only job he can get with that is in teaching. The licensing rules in MInnesota are pretty minimal for teachers, where realistically all Lewis would need to do is enroll in a preparation program and pass a license exam.

If he tried to become a columnist with this degree, it's impossible because he hasn't really engaged in journalism since getting the degree, nor has he minored in journalism.

Honest truth is he's a lot like Boogie in the "I will fail on my own terms" attitude, which ironically Boogie has ways to recover but chooses not to, while Lewis has no way to prepare for the fall, nor does he think he needs to.

He hasn't been able to secure a single sponsor, and the merch he does sell is the usual print on demand shirts and stuff he 3D prints in his garage. With his YouTube ad revenue money, and extrapolated from what he volunteered when he begged for tax money(over $7,200) , his overall income, based on if he paid $7k+ a year, is $34K a year or slightly higher.

Lewis also doesn't have any sort of insurance. He went to a dental college to get his wisdom teeth extracted, and chose to pop over the counter tylenol for the pain since he couldn't afford a prescription. Lewis is in the "There are levels of survival we are willing to accept" tier of youtuber.

YouTube might be getting more profitable. But My comment isn't on the platform, but on how fleeting people's tastes are. Mr Beast is king, but before him it was PewDiePie and before him it was Smosh.

Nobody is famous forever. Even hollywood A-listers are not always in the spotlight. People do get bored of them, so they do fade between gigs.

As much as I loath to admit it DSP has seized his detractors to keep his relevancy. His "careers" is more based on hate, so he is definitely a different animal from Linkara. I would argue DSP isn't even on his twilight phase because he keeps the spotlight due to all the drama he is always in.

My points is that everyone has an expiration date. Some like DSP have it longer than others, but I doubt his gig will last him his whole life. Same for Doug and AVGN. People do move on.

That's fair, but for now there are a myriad of ways for Linkara to draw in more profits, as many people here have said. He doesn't have to stagnate the way he has and could branch out to more avenues for income if he needed.

But he won't. He would WANT to do it to change, but he doesn't want to. I've not seen many that have had so many events that could be considered 'wake-up calls' and ignore them. He:
1) did the adblock vid
2) went to a dental college to get his wisdom teeth taken out
3) begged for tax money literally a week before the due date
4) Tons of micro-begging his fans to rewatch a ton of his vids at the end of the month to boost his ad revenue, at one point bragging his latest ebegging netted him an extra $800 one month.

Lewis is odd in that he
A) Has no shame
B) Has a ton of pride in being shameless.

Todd in the Shadows and Lindsay Ellis are ex-Channel Awesome, and they've stayed relevant without streaming or spamming the algorithim.

Regardless of how you feel about them or their content, they've figured something out. They would have fans who don't even know what Channel Awesome is.

Linkara is just condemned to be mediocre. His voice and personality suck, and he doesn't have the creativity or insight to make long form videos.

If he took sponsorships he wouldn't have to do any of that. Count Dankula's sponsors made him a landlord. It's honestly stupid that Luis won't just read an ad and put some stock footage over it.

Well, they managed to latch onto the BreadTube circle, and that lends itself well to gaining views.

I sometimes wonder had Spoony just stayed sane, done his Patreon goals, and just been like AVGN and pumped out something every 2 months where he'd be now. He still pulls 1000 views on his occasional streams that he barely talks in. I bet he'd easily be making $100k+ a year if he'd just kept it going, even lazily.

Linkara wasn't my least favorite CA person really, that's Marzgurl. But she was never a big impact. He's by far the biggest one on there that I just couldn't watch more than a few minutes total. I'd watch 'Bad Spoony' videos all the way through just about every time, but he never could stream worth a damn.

Lewis did a video game streaming series, this one specifically tailored to try and court sponsors. His stream numbers are atrocious. His normal vid numbers average at about 30k views a vid, his game streams are way way worse.
What games does he even play beside Star Trek? Maybe if he tried playing something not obscure and shit he might get viewers. I would give his stream a shot if he tried Dark Souls.

He’d also have to pass a classroom full of kids who would tear him a new asshole in mockery

Which is strange, because MinnCare is incredibly easy to get

Fucker has 16 months to save up enough for a month's worth delay and he can't do it. In 16 months get certs, or almost an associates degree for cheap. Damn what a lazy loser.

Not like anyone that searched for him though if he tried to get a real job wouldn't run for the hills anyway. So nice to see all those CA traitors being broke.
I'm getting a second degree in that amount of time, and that comes with multiple certifications. He's a lazy wanker.

Same for Doug and AVGN. People do move on.
Doug failed because he tried to "Grow beyond" The Critic and do a bunch of shit nobody asked for.

AVGN Sold out to lazy fatasses who annoyed Matei enough to leave and ruined the product. You don't need to be Mega-Wealthy off content for it to be profitable, you just need enough to live and save for a rainy day.

In summation

Wagie Wagie get back in that Cagie, Make us a New History of the Power Rangie.

I am just skeptical people will be able to live off YouTube forever. A few Decades, maybe, for the truly exceptional YouTubers , but not up until retirement age. Either you make a mistake like you aptly said with those examples, or people will get bored and move on.

I could be wrong, but I doubt Felix, or even Doug will be still at this in their 60s. But like you said maybe they will be able to pull off a living wage, but even that I doubt.

Even DSP, the infamous cockroach only has been on Youtube for 16 years. That’s nothing for a lifelong job. I doubt even he will be able to pull it off. DSP is already an anomaly, Linkara doesn’t even have a group of detractors that is half as big.

Fallout NV, Pokemon, Batman Arkham Asylum, he also did some Among Us streams with the TFS crew and think even Fortnite on a few ocassions, he also did a stream of a shitty walking horror game (the game was so short that you could beat it and get a refund, which people would do and it got the dev super mad)
