Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

I think I'm done with FFXIV. The only thing I did this expansion was finish the msq and it took me more than a month. I don't have any classes other classes except drk close to 100 that I actually would like to play because Japanese salary men thought it would be funny to ruin black mage and that was my main. I don't feel like leveling jobs to find something something I like to do content with retards. I'm going to pretend that ffxiv ended with endwalker.

Have you tried speaking with Wuk Lamat about this?

June 20, 2024 Yoshida was a part of a podcast called "Waiting Room" (?) with the Japanese VA for Alphinaud, Shinnosuke Tachibana. In it, they talk how the two of them met while programming for Squaresoft, they talk about Alphinaud's role in the plot, and future ramblings.

Stream archive here (Japanese): https://17.live/en-US/vod/27946111/912589e9-a12a-44af-b16e-b40c97b1b7f1

Full transcript here (Japanese):

quick notes:
  • Yoshida doesn't watch voice recordings for the game out of concern for voice actors tripping up because the producer is present. He says he trusts the directors and writers to direct voice artists.
  • Tachibana says Yoshida is well-loved by staff and that you won't see the "real" side of Yoshida until everyone's had some alcohol.
  • Tachibana did not play Final Fantasy during A Realm Reborn and was startled when handed a large script for around the end of the plot.
  • Tachibana plays Final Fantasy XIV and implies this helps him better understand his role as Alphinaud beyond the writer directions. Since the studio records in bursts and then has year breaks, he forgets the character is supposed to have developed overtime. So, he plays the game to adjust his impression toward current events.
  • Tachibana says the flow of time in Final Fantasy XIV confuses him because it is never specified.
  • Tachibana states that he feels more comfortable the more lines he gets.
  • During early Heavensward, Tachibana was greatly frustrated by how few lines he had. He used that toward the events leading up to entry into Ishgard, where Haurchefant approaches the protagonist and Alphinaud with hot chocolate and Alphinaud responds with the VA's own frustrated emotion towards the script.
  • Tachibana cried at the end of Endwalker.
  • Tachibana loved how Alphinaud references A Realm Reborn with the "Enterprise, go!" phrase returning in Endwalker with "Ragnarok, Go!" (the player is prompted if they want Alphinaud to say it).
Mr. Tachibana, is there anything about Mr. Yoshida's work that impresses you?

Tachibana
: I think he can do anything. Recently, it's becoming more common for producers and directors to appear on game streaming shows, but I think there aren't many who can play games properly and have solid support from users. That alone is amazing, but he also plays mahjong, sings, and gets into X(twitter) trends. There aren't many producers like him (laughs). He has the strength to lead as a producer, and he tries hard to show the image that users want. When I see him like that, I feel like I have to work hard too, and I think he's a really amazing person.
  • Yoshida says he wants to stream video games when he stop working at Square Enix but when he plays games, sometimes weird bugs happen and his experience in game development prompts him to stop and wonder "How did that happen?"
  • Tachibana admits he also finds himself debugging while playing video games in his personal time. He calls the phenomenon a "professional hazard" and that he tries to hide this side of himself in Lets Play livestreams.
  • Yoshida gets frustrated at the writing in other video games and says he thinks of better-phrased lines to make the plots flow easier but he worries he is being disrespectful to the game creators. He says he will be careful of doing this in future livestreams.
Finally, please tell us what challenges you would like to take on in the second half of 2024.

Yoshida
: I think of work as a part of my private life, so there's no time when I'm not taking on new challenges, so I don't have a specific "this" in mind... That being said, not just with FF14, but also with working with Hironobu Sakaguchi and taking on new challenges as part of the tightly knit Creative Studio 3, I want to continue to push the boundaries of what is "interesting and fun" for both the creators and the players.

Rather than just looking at the next six months, if we don't start sowing the seeds now, it will affect game development for the next few years, so I feel like we need to take on this challenge to achieve that.
  • Yoshida states he wants to go to an indoor snowboarding resort that is an hour away from the 2024 Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in Guangzhou, China.
  • Tachibana wants to become more active in his now-school-aged daughter's Kindergarten events. He wants to participate in the sports day events with her and bring the family snowboarding with Yoshida.
  • Yoshida has allegedly taught 50 to 60 people how to snowski and jokes that he will be teaching all the Chinese Warriors of Light how to snowski as well.

  • Yoshida regales Tachibana about dressing appropriately during his child's Kindergarten events because when Yoshida's child was young, Yoshida dressed in lots of accessories similar as he does presently. The children called Yoshida a villain and said, "He's a bad guy! Beat him!" then proceed to play with him. Their dads were not amused. Yoshida doesn't want to give up his personal style despite poor impressions. Tachibana says he will be careful but admits he will go dressed similarly (casual) anyway.

Tbh I don't even mind wuk lamat but I played with jap dubs this time because of the tranny and erenvilles English voice actor. The pacing was awful again. Everything took for ever. The later zones were really ugly except for the golden city. Sphene turning evil felt like filler. Dawntrail probably would have felt better if it was just the baguul jaja trials and like zoraal ja would tried to take power as the ending.

Didn't realize WeskAlber was such a faggot, what a shame, he made decent videos. Into the trash he goes.

The jannies over there locked the thread, doesn't appear to be a reason given (but we all know why, the woketards had clearly lost control of the narrative). Don't see any threads on r/ffxiv or even /rffxivdiscussion about it, so I'm guessing it's a reddit-wide sweep of any criticism of Sena.

I'm kinda rolling my eyes at some of these. She got a Covid shot. Whatever. Who gives a shit.

But stuff like this really comes off as her being completely unable to handle feedback or criticism. I absolutely hate 'creatives' who act/think like this and I really hope Dawntrail was a huge fucking ego check for her. Yeah, don't listen or kowtow to the whiny ones, but when people offer up actual, legitimate feedback? That's sorta why/how ARR became the success it was you daft cunt.

I think this one is genuinely the worst by far. Kate thinks that kids should be exposed to kinks and sexual fetishes.

Only video I had seen of him was when he made a pathetic video about his feelings ( https://youtu.be/2oU_axu_wmo?si=A-IAyOcErDannmQM&t=692 ) for being invited to the media tour. So I figured he was a moron.

Seems like every content creator is avoiding focusing on trooncat like the plague, Preach's video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ga7qsuRO-JQ ) was so soft, He probably prefers to be buddy-buddy with Yoshi-P.

My algorithm sees to be filling with other small streamers ranting about Dawntrail, but no one that's based enough to talk plainly about the voice actor.

Preach didn't even address the "SPEEN LISTUN TO ME" moment, completely ignored it, and said her english VA was great. What a fat cuck. It's hilarious because there's a moment where he outright says Wuk's VA delivery was terrible, so he's straight up backpeddling when he says he liked it:

Just look at this face:

I enjoyed the one comment that made fun of the "SPEEN, LEESTEN TU MIII" delivery
What a shitshow, not even reddit or the forum can whole heartedly defend him at times

SE has really screwed themselves over with the expansion structure of 14. It's going to be harder and harder to get new players into it because there is just so much MSQ they're going to have to get through. And with the player being an actual specific person (Azem), they can't just have new players slot in later.

They had this done right in 11 where you really are just an adventurer and can play the expansions in any order.

Call me curious; how's Ninja doing in this expansion? Tried getting into it back in Endwalker, but I only got it up to level 58 or so; it felt really weak in comparison to other Melee DPS classes in particular, and it felt a lot more "positional-heavy" than the others as well... which didn't help when I kept getting into parties with Tanks that span enemies around like a demented helicopter. It also didn't flow well, personally; it just felt clunky, again compared to the other Melee DPS jobs.

Still, I don't want to give up on the job just yet; it does honestly look like it could be a bit fun/solid at higher levels. That said, anyone got opinions of how it performs?

And now he's going to conventions to represent Wuk and also being the apparent sole FFXIV actor showing up so he's basically representing the whole game there:

He's also selling Wuk Lamat artwork (drawn by other people btw) while he's there:

How he's getting away with selling someone else's art I have no fucking idea. So yeah basically he's going out of his way to be an unofficial (and unwanted) representative of the game right now, all for monetary gain and to feed his own ego, of course. So it makes his twitter "hot takes" even worse.
I love how one of the other characters they're known for voicing is Gloucester from Unicorn Overlord, one of the manliest men in the game with one of the deepest voices.

Is it though? You're not really doing anything at lvl 100 you weren't already doing at lvl 60.
The obsession with reaching endgame is a disease brought over from WoW where not being max lvl locks you out of the endgame. In WoW old content is dead next expansion.
In FF14 I've never had the feeling that the old content is dead.
The only problem is that the story in ARR is not particularly good, and you have to suffer through it to get to the good parts
