BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - The Butte County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly dog mauling in the Feather Falls area.

The sheriff’s office said on Thursday, around 2 a.m., a resident contacted them and reported that he found a body on Blackhawk Trail in the Feather Falls area.

Deputies responded and located a body, which was later identified as Davina Corbin, 56, of Feather Falls.

On Thursday, a forensic pathologist performed an autopsy on Corbin and during the autopsy, the forensic pathologist said they located numerous bite marks and injuries on Corbin’s body.

Based on the evidence located during the autopsy, the forensic pathologist believed Corbin’s cause of death was attributed to a domestic dog attack.

During the investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant for a home on Blackhawk Trail. The home was located directly in front of the area where Corbin was located, according to the sheriff’s office.

During the service of the search warrant, detectives said they located about 25 Great Dane dogs. Butte County Animal Control responded and deputies and detectives spent the entire day capturing the dogs, who were running loose in the area.

*As of August 14, all 25 dogs have been captured.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife sent the clothing Corbin was wearing to a lab for DNA analysis. The lab confirmed that Corbin’s clothing was covered in DNA, consistent with domestic dogs. The lab is in the process of conducting additional testing, in an attempt to determine which dogs attacked Corbin.

This investigation remains ongoing.

Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives located evidence, giving them cause to believe Corbin, who lives in the area, was walking when she was attacked by the dogs.

BCSO encourages those with pertinent information to come forward. Anyone with information is requested to contact Detective Mike Worch or Detective Casey Whitney at 530-538-7671. If anyone has information about the current location of the two outstanding dogs, they are encouraged to contact Butte County Animal Control, or BCSO at 530-538-7322.

*This article has been updated to show that all 25 dogs have been captured.

This is so sad, those dogs deserved so much better. Great Danes are not for everyone, but they make wonderful companions for people who have the time, space, and patience for them. This should never have happened. Each one of those dogs deserved to be a part of a loving home instead of some trailer trash from the sticks.

Huh, I definitely thought it would be shitbulls.
Yeah, it's weird. Great Danes aren't usually associated with fatal attacks. It's not unknown, but it's definitely not common. The fact that there were twenty odd of them just wandering around suggests that they were untrained and possibly very hungry. Large, untrained, underfed dogs roaming freely around in a huge pack... yeah, nothing good is going to come out of that.

What a terrible way to die. :(

>25 Great Danes

The owner was either hauling in dog food daily by truckfull, or feeding them on hikers on purpose.

25 Great Dane
Grown up men have trouble controling one of these dogs, how was a 50 year old woman walking 25 of them?

edit: NVM I read it wrong, she was just walking by the area. I wonder who the owner of these animals is.

Total marijuana death. If this is true, this highlights what schizo wooks are like, and they did not deserve being enabled by legalization (whether their grow is legal or not). 25 uncared for dogs, one dead woman. Should never have happened. Again, only if it's true.

For chronic users of cannabis that are reading this right now, I'd suggest researching modern studies/evidence, especially the link with chronic use and testicular shrinkage. And if you don't smoke, you can insult smokers by telling them to fuck off with their tiny nuts. :) Consolation prize for the state of fuck of it all
