Personally, I think that storylines in vidya tend to lead to some of the more serious autistic doses. The Sonic fandom was not NEARLY as autistic until Sonic Adventures 1 and 2 came out, because that's when story became a big part of the Sonic franchise.

Similarly, Zelda's got this really wacky and strange timeline, which in turn attracts all sorts of autists who will argue for hours about it in between bouts of some fetish porn.

Mario, despite having SOME storylines, is A) Not particularly complicated in its narrative and B) Has no furry creatures that can fuck one another in Rue 34 art.

This is an interesting point. I think its less that series without storylines lead to less autism, its that they lead to less lulzy autism like romhacks and speedrunning. Playing the same level of Mario64 3,000 times until you master backflipping into a corner just the right way to phase through a wall and complete it 2 minutes faster isnt less autistic than writing a 50 chapter SonicXKnuckles diaperfetish fanfic, its just a less contemptible/entertaining.

Which is why I said "Nintendo fanboys". N had the luxury of having multiple successful franchises as opposed to Sega's over-reliance on Sonic. Though while Mario may not be in the same realm as Sonic in terms of insanity, the Legend of Zelda series has an epidemic of autism that puts it at good competition.

I disagree on the less contemptible-maybe it is, maybe it isn't. I think the difference between the two is the guy playing Mario for that long to master that backflip is less noticeable. A guy who just plays a game all day isn't coming on the internet to make a fool of himself. Usually.
