Well, they managed to latch onto the BreadTube circle, and that lends itself well to gaining views.

To add to backstory, I think the reason Ennis hates superheroes so much was because he said he felt that the way things like the Comics Code worked, only superhero comic books could actually sell and find an audience, and because of that, he thinks comic books can never reach their full potential, thus starting a lifetime of resentment.

I mean.... Ennis is completely correct. It's no surprise that in countries where comics either weren't censored or fought off censorship early, they gave more diversified offerings and were more mainstream and successful.

I enjoy MCU movies as much as any normie. But I gotta admitt he has a point. I will just say that many of the typical manchild super hero fan won't consume anything that isn't more complex than "OP superhero fights one dimensional ridiculously evil guy every week. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying "comics bad". On the contrary. Its a medium with limitless potential. I am just saying a lot of people hold unto very basic simplistic stories and refuse to consume anything else. For example people like Linkara that refuse to read anything that isn't run of the mill cape shit from Dc or Marvel.

No need to convince me good comics that break the mold exists in with superheroes. I know. Superheroes are fun. The issue I see is that it must be depressing to ONLY be allowed to cater to people that refuse to let go of superheroes like a security blanket way into adulthood if you want to work for a big comic publisher in America.

Sadly it's not even just comics. I experience the same thing in the anime and manga fields. Most people have never read or watched anything that isn't waifu shit or samey-ass shonen action garbage. I often try to direct people towards things like Tezuka's Phoenix or something with actual artistic merit, but if its not safe and familiar people will avoid it.

Sadly it's not even just comics. I experience the same thing in the anime and manga fields. Most people have never read or watched anything that isn't waifu shit or samey-ass shonen action garbage. I often try to direct people towards things like Tezuka's Phoenix or something with actual artistic merit, but if its not safe and familiar people will avoid it.

My issue with Garth is that he isn't doing thinsg to offer people an alternative thing to read, he does it because he's a spiteful hack who cannot write things with genuine passion. Like, say what you want about shonen action or even superhero stuff, but there's still passion and desire to entertain the audience. Garth however? Also Lewis averages 14k views a vid overall(which was lower than I thought!) while Doug averages 90k views.

It's not Pewdiepie money. But 108k isn't poverty line money either. 108k, in a span of 3 years, as a side gig for basically just turning a camera in front of his face, and rambling for an hour or two, is extremely good.

He ain't rich, but this just proves to me that, just like I suspected, he is a professional e-begger. There was zero reason he couldn't have paid his taxes himself. And he isn't going to die of starvation by just waiting a few days for Patreon to pay him. He pretends to be poorer than he really is. Pretty standard from YouTubers, to be fair. But his earnings, including youtube ads and patreon, are more than enough for basic needs, and still have a profit for leisure.

Keep in mind these numbers are heavily skewed based on times he streamed 4+ times a week, like the week of his tax streams. Not to mention that amount includes the Tax Stream numbers. And even if he is profiting, him turning off his Vimeo and PO Box are idiotic if he's doing it just for sympathy because he is hampering his business for pity.

Also, he's got 324 streams over the course of 6 years. He's getting about, on average, 16 grand a year from superchats.... so yeah, he is doing DSP shit.
