Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

The problem is that just not buying it doesn't work.

To simplify the maths for sake of example. You have a whale that spends £6000 on skins. This scares off 10 plebs from the £60 AAA game. They are still £5400 in the black. You'd have to have 100 plebs not buy the game just to make up for 1 whale.

From there, it's simple economics. I forget the exact number, but isn't it something like 80% of the wealth is held by 1% of the population? As long as there's enough players to act as fodder for the whales to show off their skins or whatever, then no amount of keeping your wallet closed is going to help.
Yeah, that's why I don't think that it's really the normalfags' fault that much, game budgets have become so fucking bloated that if a game doesn't ship 10 million copies by the end of week 1 it's considered a flop and a normalfag can't own the chuds by buying a game 100 times, which is something a whale in a gacha game can do easily by spinning the gacha hundreds of times to get this week's new waifu or husbando. Publishers have figured this out and naturally that's why there's so many MTX and live service games now. Voting with your wallet can work for AAA games if it's just a singleplayer experience, but overall can't do shit to make the gaming industry healthier due to the point you laid out. Even in F2P gacha games the vast majority of players don't spend a single cent on the game, if you limit it to people who spend more than $60 bucks per year on it goes down to just 10% of the playerbase. It's the handful of turbowhales that keep the games profitable, not to mention adding 10 new skins is way cheaper for devs than making and marketing a new full-priced AAA piece of goyslop.

For example if players don't buy the PC release of a game because of excessive microtransactions, the developer/publisher may just take it as "oh I guess games don't sell on PC, we'll just stop releasing games there"
This has been Nintendo's excuse for a while, and I hate it. Fans ask for a new Metroid, get shit like Federation Force or Other M, sells like dog turd and Nintendo declares people don't want Metroid and shelves the franchise. Same with Star Fox. Fire Emblem had just hit it big in the west when Treehouse got their mitts on it and started filling the game with wokeshit, and now it's back to be a niche Nintendo franchise instead of a mainstream second tier like Star Fox, F-Zero, and Splatoon.

Which is part of the problem. At the end of the day the suits will take whatever excuses covers their arse the best. This is why "hate campaign" and "review bombing by alt-right chuds" are such popular excuses. It absolves them of blame.

The Skylanders fanbase is one of the better video game fanbases out there. It's not infested with trannies or libs from what I've seen, none of the popular people in the space have been outed for doing terrible shit, there's a lack of drama, and there haven't been any MLP cumjar-esque incidents.
I'm happy the toys to life genre died out. Another way to nickle and dime consumers. Nintendo managed to make it relevant with Ammibos. Who even buys those?

Points to Disney that after Disney Infinity died they released the Gold editions of the games on Steam with all the toys to life portal stuff built in. Wish Activision would do that for the Skylanders games in a collection or something, but they just shut down a Modern Warfare mod so fuck old games I guess.

better loading times
I have yet to see a USB stick or SD card that can read 3 GB per second
It barely matters for gaming
less likely to be damaged over time
Doesn't flash memory degrade with reads a lot quicker than hard disks or optical media?
more space
Less space in practice because the games would need uncompressed assets to actually load faster

Gaming media should go back to cartridges. Or, with modern technology, USB sticks or SD cards. Easier to store, less likely to be damaged over time, better loading times, more space. I'm willing to hear a counterargument.
My counterargument is just give me the files without a bunch of anti-piracy bullshit and I'll put them on whatever medium appeals to me most. Let me install Cyberpunk 2077 from 5 1/4 floppies if I have a warehouse large enough to store all of them.
This is another advantage which repackers provide cause everything of theirs is just the files and setup.exe. Even gog has a stupid online platform now, distributing the setup files and the installation file would be the best from a customer pov. They won't do it because it will be easy to distribute for free and they can't have that.

I liked promised consort radahn. I had a lot more fun with him than with any of the other dlc bosses for elden ring. I must say though, that he is a result of all the complaints about elden ring being too easy and the normie perception that dark souls is all about difficulty. I hope fromsoft does something different for their next game.

Same with Star Fox
Unpopular opinion about video games: Star Fox Zero is the second best Star Fox game ever made.

Fire Emblem had just hit it big in the west when Treehouse got their mitts on it and started filling the game with wokeshit,
I think that had more to do with turning Fire Emblem into a dating sim. I don't know what the fuck they were thinking. I guess they found out that fujos liked the shipping aspect of the 3DS games and decided to make that the primary focus of the franchise.

The whole "just don't buy it" doesn't work because the greater gaming audience has grown so vast that the normies that don't really care about video games completely undo any effort by the normal gamer and that's not even considering whales. Everyone plays games now and that has brought in a lot of people that largely don't care or know about games or the industry and they're perfectly content being cattle waiting to be milked.
that's why you use the other side of the coin, pay for what you value, even if it doesn't break records or will be MUH MAINSTREAM. for an indie every sale counts, and even for AA+ support is support.
"voting with your wallet" and then pirating everything else is /v/ tier retardation because it means a company has zero incentive to cater to you if you're not a customer either way.

This has been Nintendo's excuse for a while, and I hate it. Fans ask for a new Metroid, get shit like Federation Force or Other M, sells like dog turd and Nintendo declares people don't want Metroid and shelves the franchise.
that's how it always worked, companies half-ass a game and then declare "no audience" and drop it.
which is also why them sticking to retarded wokeshit games is such an obvious anomaly.

Then horseshit will happen like on Switch that to save the distributor money versus paying for a larger cart they'll ship half the game and force you download the rest anyway. It'll be the worst of both options without the benefits of either.

The Meat Circus in Psychonauts wasn't difficult at all. Very good game, but:
Psychonauts starts amazing and quickly goes downhill FAST when the Asylum comes.

The plot suddenly stops and Im forced to do these obnoxious levels for the sake of getting clothes to trick an idiot guard. It just feels like excuses for padding out the play time because the devs realised that the plot progressed too fast and now they gotta stop and let the gameplay time catch up

I legit feel like quitting during the Edgar level, that shit is so fucking annoying.

I completely agree. Those levels are the worst in the game. They're all very tedious in their own ways.

RE4 Remake is better than the original. Separate Ways was more fun in the original game, however. And Jim Ward is the best voice for Jack Krauser, but other than that, the Remake is gravy.

Although, at first, I weren't too keen on what they did with Lord Saddler, as I was looking back on his cool and collected, power-hungry villain demeanour in the original game, but over time, my stance changed. I like that he was a descendant of the cult, and that the King or Queen Plaga chose him, and consumed his body and mind.
