Modern Web Woes - I'm mad at the internet

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Some of these have probably been mentioned:

  • Cookie permissions
  • Chatbots
  • Pop ups offering me 15% off your shitty merch.
  • Browser “Allow notifications”
  • Google search
  • Google ads offering me stuff I’ve just fucking bought online.
  • Newspaper sites hyper monetising by overloading with ads.
  • American retard spelling
  • Wikipedia
  • Silicone Valley
  • X/Twitter
  • Facebook
  • Instafram
  • Alphabet
  • Meta

Bastard internet - I fucking hate it.
All of this. But i’ll add to it:
  • Current retarded internet slang.
  • Onlyfans
  • Full page pop ups. Some that won’t let you continue until you click yes or continue.
  • Turn off your ad blocker notifications.
  • Shorts
  • Ugly art that has no personality that you see from Google, facebook, apple.
  • DRM
  • Troons and furries

Worse: when you have to pay to see a story.

Or more worse: when you can read part of it, but have to pay to see the rest.
You can bypass most of these with archive.today. News sites tend to give search engines the full text to improve their ranking, and archive.today exploits that.

Some of these have probably been mentioned:
All of this. But i’ll add to it:
  • "Sign in with Google" popups

Related to search engines: Google captchas. The 2 most annoying ones:

  • "select all parts of the image with [something]" (good luck figuring out which parts count as thing)
  • "select all pics with [something] until none are left" (and the crap seems to drag on and on and on)

  • "Sign in with Google" popups

I fucking hate those 'opt-in' tick boxes where it asks if you want to opt-in to receive marketing offers or be part of a newsletter, BUT they now do a 180 to try and trick you by getting you to 'tick to opt-out' of their shit. So if you don't tick those boxes (like you were avoiding before), you now automatically get signed up to random shit you didn't ask for.

  • You need an app to do just about anything, and they're often janky as shit.
  • Your phone number and e-mails will get spammed to shit because you signed up on one website, or bought from another website, or whatever third party bullshit
  • You need a QR scanner, QR codes and shit.
  • Every business has a social media account, and often times they are the places to go to if you need help.
  • AI, bots, ghost phone numbers are the new customer service. If you somehow manage to find a working number that provide HUMAN customer service, you get a thick-accented Pajeet.
  • Everything, and everywhere is corporated. No originality. Everything is "safe" so no offensive bantering. You need to have the right opinions or otherwise you're cancelled, banned, shadowbanned, and people will circulate what you wrote in their own social circles.
  • People take everything they see on the Internet aa face value, zoomers infiltrated the Internet and made it unfunny. You can't even say the funny haha word without them clutching their pearls and acting like your Hitler's incarnate.
  • Speaking of Hitler, all memes, lingo, is now overused to the point it lost its original meaning or power. I guess Old Internet could be guilty of this too.
  • Politics are everywhere and poisoned everything unrelated to it. You cannot escape. Everything you love is tainted and turned into a political movement. Ruined.
  • No one is stopping pedophiles online. A lot of them get away with their sick shit. They're protected, even.

Ha

Or how they switch agree/disagree left and right, some even make the disagree very gray or obscure it behind 3 choices.

This won't change. This will never change.

I've seen the opposite recently, where they'll make a very visible "customize" button where you can disable shit but turn the greyed out button that everyone's trained to click by now into the "accept all" button.

I wonder how these cunts sleep at night. They're worthless parasites on humanity and there is no way they don't realize it.

Most of these "apps" are a wrapper around a web browser. Companies bundle all their bloated, pajeetified JS into a program so you can't escape the tracker scripts this time. Nobody bothers writing native programs because the browser is the only way to have a single language codebase reliably span multiple OSes.

There's also Java, but because of its storied history of browser applets (remember those?) being such a security nightmare that even Macromedia Flash looked like a mighty fortress in comparison and the fact that you now have to wrestle with fucking Oracle of all companies, it's never going to escape its pajeety enterprise niche now.

How did India gain such extensive influence in telecom tech? And why only now? There's around 1 billion people over there and English is widespread, yet India is only now gaining the influence they have. And why is it that just about every scam call comes from India?

I'm not sure which is worse, Oracle or the 6 gorillion Android API versions that you have to wrestle with to do anything useful.

Lots of Indians previously didn't have an Internet connection. If I remember correctly, there was a big boost around 2015 because of Jio and its dirt cheap mobile plans. The part about scam calls is a numbers game paired with currency leverage - there are about three times as many Indians as there are Americans, and $50 buys more in India than it does in the US.

Memes repeating in nature but now they're using cropped-out heads of vtubers or wojaks. I genuinely feel like I've seen it all. I can't even doomscroll cause it's the same shit on repeat.

The only use the internet truly has to me anymore are forums, and KF is like one of few last bastions of this.

Ai generated blog trash is the worst. Every time I look for an answer for some obscure thing I need to troubleshoot I come accross pages of pajeets and their ai slop
Dear Internet,

PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MAKE A SCRIPT THAT HIDES PAJEET CONTENT.

It doesn't matter what I search or where I search for it I am literally flooded by Indian results and it is getting to the point where it can take several pages to find any content of value. (:_(
On Google you can set your search results to a date range, try 1980-2009 and bookmark that page, return later for high quality searching of the old internet.
