For the people still wanting to defend Nick or are on the fence about defending him, please consider that Drexel, a person who considered Nick his brother and has known him for 20+ years, is currently not speaking to him because he's pissed off that Nick has lied to him.
If this man of all people thinks Nick is lying about something important enough for it to affect their friendship this significantly, maybe Nick isn't as innocent as he wants to pretend to be. Maybe Drexel is the less retarded person in this particular instance.

Drex is vehemently anti-drug. If Nick denied using drugs, that would likely be reason enough for Drexel to cut contact. Drex would only have to watch a few streams to know Nick was lying.
