The split wouldn't be that simple, unfortunately. This is Highway 101. If you're a normie and live in a town this highway passes through there's a 90% chance you vote blue and are an idiot (this also applies to Oregon and Washington). If you ever wind up here, just avoid that area and you're probably fine. Lots of nice hiking and trails up in the mountains.

Worth noting that I've seen Trump signs go up and stay up undefaced in that area this year and that's a real first.

The decimated fishing and logging communities of the PNW beg to differ with your Californian views.

(With the exception of rich boomer retirees in Lincoln City, OR and Port Angeles, WA.)

I'd say that this has been a bad week for the Harris campaign.

When even mainstream media outlets are tearing you a new one over your insane proposed economic policies ...

Honestly, she probably pissed off so many donors over her proposal of soviet-style price regulating that now I'm not even 100% sure that she's going to be the nomination right now. Odds are that, yes, she probably will be ... But let's just say that I won't be shocked if an open convention happens now.

Sounds like the Dems are fearing rioting in Chicago during their convention too.

Preventing Trump from campaigning six weeks from election day will guarantee he wins
Pure copium. A locked up Trump will have a media machine going wild trying to convince people they can no longer vote for him and all the Rinos launching a counterattack to take back control. Boomers will believe both that the vote no longer counts and that he is a bad bad man now sense he went to prison.

This is up there with niggers supporting Trump in conservative delusion.

I'm going to be sad when the election is over. It's been fun seeing how deep a grave Kamala can dig for herself.
Good stuff, this is going to stick better than 'weird' for sure since it's actually a policy matter.

What the hell happened to the days when most Americans knew communism never works.

It would be pretty funny if the DNC decides to go with one of their candidates they're saving for 2028 to stop Kamala completely.

“I’m honored and thrilled to welcome Butch Ware as my running mate and the Vice President we need at this moment in history,” Stein posted on X following her announcement. “[…] This is truly a historic ticket bringing together a Jewish woman and Black Muslim man against genocide, endless war, climate collapse, and rampant injustice, and for an economy that works for working people, a livable future for our children, and an America and a world that works for all of us.”

She already is the candidate. They did an online roll call of the electors.
I’m not familiar enough with the actual rules of the DNC to say if it’s possible to revoke that election at the actual convention and get the new candidate on all the ballots. It’s certainly possible given how undemocratic the rules of the DNC are. But as of right now, she’s not just the heir apparent, she’s officially their candidate.

It's funny how my economist / analyst friend thinks Trump is floundering just because Biden is 'passing the torch' to Kamala and Dromph has no idea how to answer that move. Or how Kamala is a complete unknown and he's got no strategy to attack her. Or how JD Vance has sunk the GOP's chances of winning cause of that childless cat lady remark.

I just nod my head and go "Uh huh" whenever he goes on one of those spiels.

Guess that's what you get when you read supposedly independent news sources.

Very interesting choice.

Here is some information on him from his UC Santa Barbara faculty page:
I am a historian of Africa and Islam. I earned my Ph.D. in 2004 at the University of Pennsylvania where I trained in African History, African-American History, and Islamic Intellectual History. My research spans the last thousand years, centering on West Africa, while reaching into the Mediterranean lands of Islam and the Atlantic worlds of the African Diaspora.

What has it meant to be an African Muslim? This question interests me across space and time, leading me to publish works on the histories of Qur’an schooling, Muslim Mysticism, Slavery and Abolition, and Islamic Devotional poetry.

I investigate mainly with the tools of an historian, but my approach is interdisciplinary. My research relies on conventional sources of Africanist historiography: archival and documentary work in European languages, and oral history in African languages. Yet my methods have been deeply shaped by the Arabic textualist tradition, anthropology, and philosophy. So although I write as an historian, I see myself as straddling a crossroads where two broad interdisciplinary fields meet. My work seeks to engage with, intervene in, and push the edges of, African and Islamic studies.

I can't verify any of this but someone on Twitter said a Chicago police source told them pallets of bricks have been showing up along the planned protest route during the DNC. So take it with a grain of salt but it wouldn't surprise me.

Not supplying superior river rocks to your foot soldiers like you can get a lot more power behind these due to them being more aerodynamic and you being able to get your whole hand around it and not have to hold it in the extremely awkward way

I don't think there are all that many candidates willing to take one for the team, go into an election which will be a guaranteed loss and destruction of their political career.

I think the number of willing candidates is 0 and that everyone asked responded something in line of "over my dead body I will run in this election".

Remember how they tried so hard to find someone/anyone other than Kamala, so much so that Obama refused to endorse here and all political hevyweights and megadonors on the left were speculating about who would be the nominee ?
Remember they were gonna have an open convention where there would be a lot of candidates and they would debate and then the convention would pick the candidate? Remember that? Why the change of plan? There were no candidates willing to participate?

But then at the end of the day Kamala was chosen.
Because there was no one else. Everyone else said "over my dead body".

Both Oregon and Washington get far more right the further you go east. Have we considered it's the ocean that's turning the people gay?
